Hey, so I was given a SR Caution tag for trading with scammers and would like to appeal. I was approached by two separate scammer alts who sold me keys and a pair of earbuds for paypal because they saw my buy/sell thread on tf2outpost. I made a really dumb mistake and didn't SteamRep the accounts because I knew there was no chance of me being scammed. (They were going first + I was the one paying PayPal so there was no chance of a chargeback) I would like to apologize for this, it was very stupid for me not to check them, I rushed the whole trade because I was busy. Below I have screenshots of my chats with them which I believe shows my innocence and shows that I had no idea the mistake I was making.

I also edited the rep I left the first user to make sure everyone knows he's a marked scammer and they should not deal with him. If there's anything else I can do to help please let me know. Thanks for your consideration.

    J-O-N,

SteamRep's policy is to be understanding when traders make honest mistakes. It happens to everyone. That being said, community admins are supposed to know better than to let scammers trick them into laundering their goods and building "rep" that could be used to scam others. As an admin, you need to set the example for your community to avoid falling for this sort of thing.

From the evidence provided and your actions, we see no indication that you knowingly bought from a scammer and you have no prior warnings. As a result your CAUTION tag will be removed since you are not under suspicion of knowingly working with scammers. Yet, this will be your final warning on this and you should work extremely hard to avoid any future reports.

Admins who look the other way when dealing with scammers and/or obviously shady alts are not something the community will support; you need to work to avoid that kind of perception to keep your reputation intact.

All traders should check buyers and sellers on SteamRep before an exchange. In addition, review/investigate the item history for rare items to be sure they were obtained legitimately and were not laundered. The bar is high for thoroughness by admins and the reputation of your own communities can be hurt if you are not careful.

Thanks for your cooperation on this,
    -Mattie
