I posted on Steamtrades.com that I have a Tradable Civ 5 for trade. I was interested in Dawn of War 2: Retribution and any other steam games and offers.

I received a friend invite from the above mentioned scammer. I accepted * - proceed to the chatlog posted below

Short story, this is his steamtrades.com profile: http://www.steamtrades.com/user/amitre88
    My review (Negative):
Sent my tradable Civilization V to him first because he got more reps than me. Received a game key for Dawn of War 2 Complete if it even is. Did not work. Gave me another key and it does not work either. (I already know by now that I won't be getting my game back from him) I asked him if he have any other games that he can trade me in place of the key that didn't work. He said that he got no other games, all traded out. (Excuse me? Didn't I just trade you my game? Contradicting yourself here?)
Refuses to return me my game saying that his key is compromised and asked me to wait to get refund from him in 1 - 3 days. An absolutely ridiculous idea that even I fail to comprehend the logic behind his thought process. Me? Getting a refund? From him?! Through what? Such baseless promises. He ignored my messages and went offline after that. I can provide screenshots or even download fraps to provide video evidence. Wasted a lot of my time figuring out the whole report scammer process. Worst experience ever. I trusted this person based on his reps. Bad idea.

    Initial trade promise:
My offer: Civilization V (Steam Tradable)
His offer: Dawn of War II: Complete (GMG key)

Please take note of my desktop clock at the bottom right between each screenshots posted and the time on the steam chatlog last message received. I spent 4 hours in total making the trade, wasting my time on that scammer and digging my way on the forums finding out how to make this report. Your seriousness in this matter will be much appreciated!

    MARCH 1 UPDATE!

I have managed to gain concrete and conclusive evidence where this scammer freely admitted he is a scammer before blocking me and setting his profile to private.

You might ask, why does he need to go through this hassle? Simple, he tried to maintain his reputation through composure.
    1) He got a good rep, positives. So people will believe him. He thought that he could get away with scamming me. Why?
    - He got a high rep. People will believe him because of his 'rep'.

    2) I have got no trade history on steamtrades. It was my first time using it to trade for games. Thus, I have no experience in dealing with such matters.
    - He thought he could get away with scamming me because I have no experience with steamtrades.
    - He thought he could get away with scamming me because I have no rep. I will have less "talking power" and his words will carry more weight.

    3) His inventory was private
    - why does he need to set his inventory to private?
    - he told me he can't return me my game because all his games have been traded. (What about my tradable copy of Civ V which I just traded him huh? Self-contradiction)

    4) He sent me friend invite
    - why did he send me a friend invite in private instead of posting on my forum topic on steamtrades?

    5) He tried to maintain his composure through all the chatlogs
    - to maintain his reputation on steamtrades

I really hope that the appropriate authorities will look into this case and be able to redeem my copy of Civilization V from his account and return it to me.

Hello-- if you want the authorities to look into this, you will need to submit your evidence to Steam Support. Unfortunately, all we can do is mark his reputation so people in the future know not to trust him.

We normally don't handle CD key situations here. You provided a lot of evidence and it's enough for me to believe you were wronged here. Yet, CD-KEYs are so messy that it's always very difficult to tell who is scamming.

Anyway, I'm marking him with a CAUTION and will monitor him for any other abuses. Hopefully that will ensure no one ever goes "first" with this guy every again.
