I haven't thought anything of it and am close friends with one of them. We have had a few free periods together. In the past I have told him all about trading etc. I knew he had an account which was marked however thought nothing of it as all he did was play Dota. When I confronted him about the alt this week he told me that It was infact his alt who impersonated me, he then proceeded to show me his trade history on his main account. However he used a throwaway email for the “impersonator” account and doesn't remember the login details as its been so long. He notified me that his alt had scammed two people successfully using my name. By the time that this appeal is finished and submitted I will make sure that BOTH scam victims will be FULLY refunded, or have the funds allocated to be given back on his behalf once they can be reached. If he is not able to assist them I will personally step in to make sure everything is corrected.

This is what he told me was scammed on the account

Hasnt been online in 60 days, I don't know what day/time the hat was scammed as my “friend” cant access the account anymore and I can't ask the original owner as they have been offline so long.

    SCAM ATTEMPT #1

http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198118679478-tf2-team-fortress-2-items.79769/ And of course this scam “attempt” of a 3rd gen heavy hat.

    SCAM ATTEMPT #2

    http://steamcommunity.com/id/hshah1/

Another Scam attempt where he was impersonating me and tried to scam Harsheldon directly for the hat we co-owned. *See Below*

    Copied from Harsh,

“Anyone remember September 28th and the week that followed? oh...the hearts law

Please, if you dont know what you're talking about, dont talk about it.

This rule is not pre-specified in outpost, and though it is not humanly possible to list each of the reasons you can get banned for on outpost, this is not an obvious reason to get banned. FOR A WEEK. Excuse me, how did i make it worse? please, enlighten me. Why am i complaining?

    - We were given a week ban to DECIDE WHO WILL PUT THE HAT FOR TRADE. are you joking me?

    - I have every right to complain. I did not debate my day ban a single bit, as i deserve it, and im not even mad.

    "You could've waited a day"

    - Um, i did wait a day. Then i wake up to outpost finding i am banned for a week because we obviously need that much time to have a good long discussion and come to a decision on who is going to put it on outpost. I understand brokering for a banned user is simply not acceptable, however. so now 2 friends are not allowed to put their items together to buy a hat? what if we cant afford the hat with just 1 single backpack.

Please dont comment on my situation if you know nothing about it, just believing the 4 lines sirploko wrote.

Well, during that week, i got an unexpected add from a Nieroda, i accepted, as i thought he probably removed me by mistake (again..it wasn't Nieroda..it was an impersonator of his: http://steamcommunity.com/id/liffewithstrife/

And so did Nieroda - http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/statuses/user/6605-nieroda/?status_id=80083

http://imgur.com/ps66KNh- Here we can see his name history (using tf2op links cause steamcomrunity links make me paranoid as f✿✿✿, and others too.)

http://www.tf2outpost.com/user/172140- likely impersonation victim where impersonator changed name to "Andrew"

http://www.tf2outpost.com/user/80349- impersonation victim where impersonator changed name to " ☁TTT☁ Strife"

http://www.tf2outpost.com/user/62493- impersonation victim where impersonator changed name to "Nieroda"

Well, we co-owned this nice Hearts Law that we combined our backpacks to achieve. the impersonator adds me and says "Hey" .... i saw Hi whats up etc, he replies "Can i borrow the Law for a second?" Thankfully, Nieroda and I had developed a passphrase, so i asked for that, and then the shock came as i clicked on view profile, an impersonator!

Subsequently, Nieroda carries on to create a SteamREP report, though it will help as it is an obvious report, hurting the community, impersonator was using Nieroda's rep thread and reputation to scam users.

    http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198118679478-none-no-items.79400/#post-218909

I believe this is another very strong example showing how this “alt” isnt me. If I were truly out to scam harsheldon(or anyone) the passphrase we shared would have been included within the trade or trade offer whichever was sent (I don't remember) As Harsh and I would never trade with each other without the code being presented EVER.

Other items that may have led to red flags being raised.

    POSSIBLE REDFLAG #1

My comment left on “Tiny’s” profile after it became public that it was Google’s ALT.

The comment was left on Februrary 6th @ 4:54 PM and stated, “please accept my friend request”

    as seen here http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16820004

I ended up breaking the hat into smaller hats which I slowly sold for pure. One of the hats I recieved was a BURNING FLAMES Trophy Belt.

    http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/21081103

It was offered I believe 10 buds in cash at the time. I notified the owner and he took the hat back and traded with google. The hat was scammed by google and the person I was brokering for was left with nothing. Once I saw that TINY was googles alt, I added her as I had seen her on BP.TF status updates and had really felt like he/she had a change of heart. I asked her if she still had her hat in her possession to return but he/she notified me that all of hats he/she had scammed were deleted by Valve.

    POSSIBLE REDFLAG #2

Another Possible Red Flag to my account was that on January 5th, 2015 my BP Value Skyrocketed. This was due to me brokering some items, and I was also lucky enough to buy some unusuals off the Steam Community Market.

    POSSIBLE REDFLAG #3

I finally reached the pinnacle on January 19, 2015 when I received a lot of hats to broker and had also bought more hats off the Steam Market

    http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561197968620640?time=1421654400

As you can see all these hats are “Untradeable” as they were legitimately bought from the market.

And No, I have not gone “Cranwell” on anyone at all. (I.E. Trading with people while marked then trying to get them in trouble) I have only done two trades while marked and that is giving back an unusual to someone who listed it for the wrong price on the market. And with “MrWhite” a victim of the impersonator.

I also have accumulated quite a bit of rep while I have been trading which I believe speaks for itself.

We hung out a quite a few times during first semester and he always told me about the trading in the games that he did. I decided to take advantage of that to try and make some money. I admit this is my alt in which i tried to impersonate a buddy of mine and that it is not his. I also still have the burning hard counter which was scammed still in my inventory and have added the dude I scammed it from and will give it back when he comes back online.

I forgot to add this, feel free to look through my trading history from the beginning...every single unusual I have received(200+) has been obtained legitimately.

@Nieroda one can only view their own trade history on steam, not that of others. Others can only view whats currently in someone's backpack, if its public.

@SilentReaper(SR) I talked to mattie about this and she let me pm her some evidence in which she said would only be viewable by admins. I believe i stated it there, but ill state it again here. Ill happily consent to a full teamview session of my trade history if that is necessary.

After reviewing the appeal and related admin notes, I wont be able to properly process it without in depth discussions with you over a period of days if not longer due to its complexity. Since you did indicate you will be away for an extended period of time and wont be able to participate in the foreseeable future, I am going to archive your appeal and allow you to make a new appeal at a later time if you so choose.
