Could SR ever be funded by Steam?

I see SteanRep is not actually affiliated with Steam itself. Why not? SR is obviously all for helping the Steam community, and if the 2 actually joined together (Maybe with full-time scam reports employees) wouldn't that make them both more effective?

Or is this not possible for some reason?

SteamRep is set up as public facing. This means any report and most information is public. We are now a NPO, a Non-Profit Organisation since a few months. Problems with SR being "merged" with Valve are:
    - Valve is a corporation, intended for profit, and has a big bank account. They cannot publicize everything on all reports, for their liability. They cannot show private information or share it with the accused even. Hence the ticket system they handle is so closed, only the maker of the ticket and Valve can see the tickets.
    - SteamRep handles a very different rule-set then Valve. This is not compatible with each-other.

And a lot of other issues. As things stand, Valve can support SR only by making a donation (which they finally can, for SR is a NPO).
