This guy would like to trade me two PSC's worth $200 & $100 for a couple of knives. He's screenshotted these and marked over the tail end of the codes to "prove" that they are real and in fact full value.

Am I setting myself up for a scam? I realize not being able to see the full code means he could switch it with one that starts with the same three digits that are already used.

What should I do? Steam rep is here: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198098238778

Seems like a nice genuine trader, but we all know how convincing some scammers are.

If you get scammed by the user, SR will be unabler process a scam report for you as such activation codes cannot be verified.

So, would you advise that I stay away from PSC's? I honestly have almost no experience with them.

or is there a way he can verify them further to ensure that I would get the correct/full value cards?

Giving a "partial" code provides absolutely no assurance they will deliver, or even that they have a legitimate code to begin with. It's also a common thing scammers use to make victims feel more at ease before the scam.

Steamrep recommends you avoid codes altogether, for a plethora of reasons, but if you're still going to trade for codes I recommend reading some guides. This Reddit one is a good start: http://www.reddit.com/r/SteamGameSwap/wiki/hownottogetscammed

STAY AWAY - IT'S A SCAM! Unfortunately, it looks like someone else already fell victim to this guy - he now has an unconfirmed report on his Steamrep page.

That being said, for anyone else coming to this page for some info - the first clue that this is a scam is that Paysafecard only comes in Euro (as far as I know). If you even search for Paysafecard in Google and go to their website you can see as much.

This is what an actual PSC purchased from the website looks like (you receive it as a gif after purchase) -

    Hope this helps =)

Also, I believe its practice that the one with the "codes" (esp when those can be faked/used before already etc) goes first anyways.
