    Scam Report

Report Type: [Item Fraud] Fake items or item duplication
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198041401847 ()

    Victim profile: 76561198121194988

    What happened? Description:
I'm accusing him for Duping. I have no clue how he did this. It seems like there is a glitch when trading and him doing something, and then when we accept I get the hat and he gets to keep it aswell. If this is the case, this can be exploited.

    Provide Evidence:
I do not know how to download puush links soo... I put a random file just soo I can make this post, here are a few screenshots. Check it out after reading.
    http://puu.sh/a3oKT/874fefd786.jpg
    http://puu.sh/a3oRF/1e9a68eb40.jpg

We can clearly see by looking on the links below this that he duplicated this hat before he sold it to me. IF we take a look at his inventory, we can see that he has the same hat, level 12. http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198041401847
Then if we take a look at my inventory, we can see that I have the same hat, level 12. http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198121194988
    -
    Now to the real proof.
If we check inventory history on my hat, from my inventory, we get the following page
    http://backpack.tf/item/1755169412
saying that I am the current owner of the hat

Now, if we check the item history of HIS hat, from his inventory, we get to the exact same page http://backpack.tf/item/1755169412
stating that I am still the owner. "How weird".

Also, if we check www.backpack.tf stats on this hat, it sais that ONLY 1 exists.
Which I also thought seems weird

We can also look further down in the history, we can see that he had it on 1st of July this year. Which is quite strange considering he still has it in his inventory and he's selling it for irl cash on tf2outpost.

He has clearly duped this hat before he traded it to me... Soo I want him to delete it from his inventory or give it to me since now my hat is duped.

And because he traded it away on 1st of July, this means that you can duplicate items in tf2, RIGHT now. It's not fixed...

Well your reporting a Steam issue to SteamRep. We can not fix the duping process if indeed there is a glitch. But that being said we would need more proof to proceed with this report. All files for proof need to be uploaded via the Upload a File button at the bottom of the page.

I don't think you quite understand how duping work, but the basis of your argument is that I sold the hat to you and then duped it... or something. If you could post a screenshot of who you traded it from (you can do this by going to your inventory, going to more in the top right of it, and then clicking on View Inventory History) you would see that I never sold this hat to you, you bought it from Falconseye http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198065023005

The only 'proof' you have of me duping the hat.. is that we both own the same exact hat.

The hat itself was duped before you or I owned it (not sure where honestly as there are no real repeat names), but if I had to guess it would be Lst was hijacked and then steam support gave him his unusual back.

Also I never 'traded it away on the 1st of July' like you guessed in a reply.

On another note, someone else unboxed one of these so it wouldn't have been 1 of 1 anyways (backpack.tf stats is unreliable I have premium on the site which is more accurate)

Please put some more "real proof" that I duped it, I would love to see some more flawless logic at work.

Hello, I'm not involved in this case at all, but I came to say that...

As far as I know, the only way the items become duped (not just hats) is when the owner loses their items due to a "scam/hijack", then Steam support grant its back, making a copy of the original one. Never heard about a reliable way with someone making duped items without the mentioned process involved.

The accused is right saying that backpack.tf is usually unreliable, why?
-- In this case you can take the hat as example, beign it duped it should show a warning that the hat might be duped already.
    Example: http://backpack.tf/item/632034899)

-- There are a few new unusual hats that aren't in the backpack.tf database yet. (Example: Search for an unusual "Allbrero" through Outpost, there are a few already, on backpack.tf none yet, mostly as they're based on sales.).

However, its still a great source to use as guide.
Now, the accused didn't trade with the person who made the report (Apparently) to consider a sharking involved here, the proof provided is worthless since all he did was to show how both owned the duplicated hat. This report should be closed.

    That'd be all. thanks.
Apologies for the lack of English skills.
