    Scam Report

Report Type: [Money] PayPal scam or scam attempt
Virtual item type involved: [CSGO] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Items

    Accused profile: 76561198044847948

    Victim profile: 76561197982635367

    What happened? Description:
The victim added me yesterday and claimed that someone in my friendslist scammed off his knife. He was going to sell his ~500$+ worth knife for 250$ paypal money & another ~200$ knife. I know that accused person for years but we hadn't any contact for a long time now. So I ran an investigation about it and collected some evidence for the scam. The chats are quite long because I collected enough evidence to find out if he really got scammed by that person or not. I chatted with both and took the necessary screenshots.

By the way, I ran an investigation on both people just to be sure that it's not a fakereport.

    Provide Evidence:
All the pictures posted below are also uploaded here.

    Day 1 (yesterday):
    The chat with the victim:

(Proof of the 'buyer' that he's going to send him the money through paypal. The e-mail belongs to the victim, as guessed from the name. The page is on german because the buyer is german aswell. The victim is french. )

(According to the victim, the 'buyer' sent him his steamrap page to show that he's not a scammer. The reason why it's clean is probably because he started with scamming since recently. More of it below.)

The next part gets a bit difficult, because I chatted with the victim in german...

Basically I asked him about this scam-report. He told me that he never traded with someone called "Scion". When I told him that he traded a knife with him, he just went offline. Coincidence?

    Day 2 (today):
Now things get more intresting during my second part of investigation.
I've been running some checks on the scammer's profile and found some intresting things:
First of all, when Scion traded with him he mentioned that the 'buyer' said that he got a lot of +rep and has a clean profile (no report). But if you look closely on the +reps on his profile, you'll find something strange about them:

    http://i.imgur.com/8fmLpBF.png
    http://i.imgur.com/IbREWV6.png
2.5 full pages of reputation. Two starting from 9th septembre (just a week ago).
Now the more intresting part. The other remaining 2.2 pages are ALL from the 12nd septembre. A lot of them are talking about 'paypal trades'. And most of these trade-comments have a span of ~10-30 minutes. Doing a lot of paypal transactions in such a short time? Heh, coincidence aswell? Oh, another intresting fact is the profile of these people who "rep'ed" him.
A few of the 'paypal' trader profiles:
    http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197978390344
    http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198090170373
Yeah, they totally look like people who made some paypal transactions.
The other ones do have some items and stattraks. I'm not sure about the worth of these weapons since I don't play that game but I'm guess they're not worth to make paypal transactions. Also, the timespan also reveals that it is all fake. And also that he just started scamming recently.

So I've been chatting with the 'scammer' once again:

Sorry about the chatlog, its again completly in german.
I've been discussing with him once again and showed him the evidence. All he said was that "he doesn't need to proof anything", obviously an answer for someone who can't say anything about it because it's all true.
He's been sending me a link aswell :
    http://puu.sh/bBqRT/d85f215409.jpg (His latest trade history)
So the trade with that knife was actually true. Also that 'Pemoma' person was kinda suspicious, they traded each other their knifes to 'show them each other'. I checked his profile: ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198054526937 )
Checking his 'reps' and the profile of the people shows that he's doing the exact same thing as our scammer: Faking reputations. Though, I have no idea if he ever scammer anyone so I'll ignore him for now (you guys might keep an eye on him however). Plus he also left a +rep comment on the 'buyers' profile.
Oh another thing: Remember the links the victim sent? All his pictures are uploaded through "www.noelshack.com". The only picture that isn't using this provider was the paypal link the 'buyer' sent him. It's the exact same provider, puu.sh, proving that this picture came from the 'buyer' as well. Another proof of the scammer trying to buy items through paypal!

I also found that knife on csgo lounge:
    http://csgolounge.com/profile?id=76561198044847948
He's really trying to sell that knife.

I'm really sorry about the german chat with the scammer, but if anyone here understands that language it would be kind to confirm the truth of my report and summary of the chat.

Final result? He's a scammer who tries to scam items by buying them with paypal and using his fake reps. He'll never pay the items.
