    Scam Report

Report Type: [Accomplice] Alternate account of hijacker or scammer
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198157912381

    Victim profile: 76561198043178329

    What happened? Description:
So what happened: this guy adds me on steam and offers me quite a generous amount for my unusual which was for sale (here it is: http://www.tf2items.com/item/795382877). Then he asks me to invite my friend to check if it's not duped (although I did tell him it's duped twice). Since he pays nicely I agree. I invite my friend and he joins us (his account is http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198096868086/). After that the scammer asks me to pass the items to my friend and I do, after making sure it is my friend. After that the scammer changes his proflie picture and nickname to mine and asks my friend to give the hat back and he does.
Then he asks me to pass over to him two keys to "prove friendship", and I do. For some reason I ignored steam's warning so as trade history shows it was this guy again with changed nickname and profile pic. Unfortunately, I wasn't screenshotting but my friend did so the screenshots attached are his.

So the scammer used two accounts: the one I accuse, for general communiation (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198157912381/) and another one for impersonating (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198158215339).

One more thing: I've traced my hat with backpack.tf to check the owners, and the first one was this guy: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198065432513. I asked him to disclose the detail of the acquisition of my hat and he refused to cooperate, actually, the whole conversation he was backing out, he are the screenshots: http://joxi.ru/JcWBVIwyTJCaQarOAOI
    http://joxi.ru/u8WBVIwyTJCNQu4-z7s
I really suspect that he's the scammer or with them but unfortunately I can't prove that.

Here's my friend's screenshot of receiving the hat from me and trading it to the perason who had my name but at the time already changed the name to my friend's.

Here's my friend's screenshot where you can see as the scammer enters the chat under one nickname (Paramaribo) and leaves under another (MicroMegaman4). View attachment 179241
My friend's screenshot of "my account" having being reported for abuse (and I haven't been reported for abuse). View attachment 179242 The scammer's second account having both me and my friends names as used.

Sorry, that's all I really have. I asked my friend if he has anything else left and he sent me this chat screenshot he's done: http://joxi.ru/V2VYYz8TKWM3mv

Is there anything else I can do to help?

The chat agreement is a vital part of your report. From now on you need to take full screen snapshots of your chat and do not crop them or edit in any way. There should still be enough proof of impersonation without the entire chat agreement. We will let an admin decide.

I got something more. You may have noticed that I've passed a unique Buff Banner to the scammer. At the moment I thought that in case I'll get scammed this will help me to track the thief. As it turned out I was right. Here's the Buff Banner itself: http://backpack.tf/item/3251260803.

Notice the person who has it in possession now: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198161657552/. He barely has got 20 hours of playtime and has two unusuals that were probably stolen, judging by there previous owners's backpacks and one of them directly says "I was scammed" on their profile. I'm still reaching out to them, but this account must also be responsible for scamming. Check out the COOL KID's friends: he's got 9 "black" private accounts, all of which are level 0; one of them impersonated me (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198158215339).

I'm pretty sure this account is still not the scammer's main, judging by how empty it is. Notice the only account among his friends that looks legit? It's this http://steamcommunity.com/id/duffaluffa guy again. Also I've checked out his friends: he's got the another account I was scammed from, the "communication" account (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198157912381). I still have no direct proof against this person but I think my accusation of him as of the scammer now looks much more solid.

New stolen hats appear in this (http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198161657552) account every day, I contact their owners and they confirm that the hats were stolen from them via friend impersonation ("COOL KID" was renamed to the "Behave Person"):

Nuts n' Bolts Sober Stuntman (http://backpack.tf/item/1114933402 ) stolen from http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198131413085 (contacted, confirmed, after that appeared in the http://steamcommunity.com/id/duffaluffa backpack, how solid is this proof?)

Blizzardy Storm Grenadier's Softcap (http://backpack.tf/item/2028724778) stolen from http://steamcommunity.com/id/nayo9/

Bubbling Lord Cockswain's Pith Helmet (http://backpack.tf/item/893950799) stolen from http://steamcommunity.com/id/ShnappsNaCl/ (as he stated two posts above)

Terror-Watt Old Guadalajara (http://backpack.tf/item/2857307513) stolen from http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198105589851 (one post above)

Disco Beat Down Katyusha (http://backpack.tf/item/2240117236) and Stormy Storm Crocleather Slouch (http://backpack.tf/item/1031313827) stolen from http://steamcommunity.com/id/toxicstab/ (not confirmed yet)

Guys, this is big, a several new hats appear weekly. I'll keep this thread updated with my new findings but we definitely have to do something about it.

Hello, I came here to say that I too, was scammed. I`ve been trying to sell my Disco Beat Down Katyusha for some time now, and he added me(http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198110965915/) to discuss. He wanted to make sure that the hat was not duped( It wasn`t, but he said he wanted to be sure). Anyway, he asked me to add a Trusted friend of mine to the conversation, so we could trade, and the Hat Buyer( that was his name ) see the history of the unusual, and be sure that it was clean. I traded my Unusual with my friend, and later on, the hat buyer created a new account with my Exact same name and Picture. He told my friend to give my unusual back to me( but it was actually the impersonator) and told my friend to Give his Sotrmy Storm Crocleather Slouch too, to make a ``Test of Friendship``. My friend gave both Unusuals to the Impersonator... and that`s about it. During the time, the Steam Items weren`t working, so the Scammer went offline, so I lost some part of the conversation :(. But I got 5 pictures here about the Trade. When my friend(the one who traded both the Unusuals) go Online, I`ll ask him to Screenshot his recent Trades.

Have in mind that the Impersonator is a different account that the one that added me. Got the Screenshot I promised. My friend`s Steam is set to Portuguese, but it`s still possible to Understand, and the Impersonator changed his name, but my name was there before( The name of the trader and the impersonator match). I`m also uploading my Trade History. As you can see, I traded with my friend at 5:34pm, wich matches the time I told the scammer that I traded with my friend, and my friend got tricked minutes later, giving the Scammer both our unusuals. I think that`s enough Proof right?
