I got scammed by my korean friend who ripped off 2 buds away from my inventory here is some evidence left http://imgur.com/2M9EThttp://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198062174071 I know the screenshot is not enough to catch an evidence. But truly, I never expected my friend would scam the hell out of me he currently blocked me, trying my best to find my bud back but i end up getting scammed. I was little careless because he was like my first tf2 best friend who used to respect me and gave alot of attention. But one day he turned out to be really obsessed with trading stuff. Probably i was the first victim. This guy told me "Im planning to gift you team captain unusual bro since ur favorite class is soldier" At that moment i was desperate to get an usual. I was trying to sell my whole Backpack just to get an unusual hat. he said he got a nice duplicated team captain unusual hat from a russian hacker, and allowed me choose any effect. He was gonna wrap the unusual and gift it for 1 freaking bud since it was duped. I had a base idea about price of team captain (worth like 8~10 earbuds). So I traded a bud. Then after few minutes my friend told me russian guy is forcing him to add another bud to duplicate a team captain. Upon hearing this i find him suspicious and i refuse to get a duplicated version (its illegal and might lead me to ban). I requested him to return my earbud then he started begged me desperately, telling that I am never gonna let you down bro, and saying some stupid things which made me laugh. Eventually i end up giving him another bud. guess what.. my best friend.. ripped me off.. he has broken my heart. I decided not to believe in anyone.. I am not gonna forgive my friend although he returns my earbud
read this before posting http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/...-look-at-acceptable-format-before-posting.51/ otherwise it's hard to know who is doing what.
i cannot extract his steam URL. http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198062174071 isnt this enough to trace him?
You chose to buy dupe hats from an unknown russian hacker, a good lesson learnt my friend. 2 earbuds isn't very severe, learn to pick yourself up again and be a stronger person.
this guy is already marked on http://tommy.or.kr/price/alliedbans.php?steamid=STEAM_0:1:50954171 this is the internet. it doesn't matter how well you think you know someone you shouldn't associate much less trust (go first in a leap of faith trade with) a marked scammer.
So you were salivating over a cheap unusual that's worth more. You fork over 1 bud in hopes for this duped unusual. He asks for another bud since the "Russian Hacker" wanted another bud for the duped/gifted Team Captain. You fork over a second bud. Your Korean Friend then logs-out and leaves you in the dust. After finding out you were scammed you made a thread. (That's good it must be reported.) My question is. What happens if you didn't get scammed and received the duped/gifted/exploited unusual? Were you gonna report that you received this or would you have been silent about this whole ordeal?
Yeah probably i would have taken it since i was desperate to get an unusual at that moment. But honestly after i got ripped off, I came to notice that duplicating hats is illegal and may lead me to ban. I just had no basic idea about this http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/i-got-scammed-2-buds-by-a-korean-friend-pok_lor.8318/ added more details and screenshot in the link please support me to ban this guy.. i really need ur help dear sir
yeah i did not traded away my buds directly (like a ✿✿✿✿✿✿). The scammer actually took more than 4 days to confirm me.
http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/i-got-scammed-2-buds-by-a-korean-friend-pok_lor.8318/ thanks for the tip I added more info about him. Imagine a gentlemen approaches to you and give a surprise buttsecks. He was my friend for past 2 years
Yes sadly my friend. At times I have managed to retrieve scammed items from "new scammers" who are really just kids and first timers. The real scammers, well you can kiss your s✿✿✿ goodbye. None of us are born with an innate ability to deal with new things, and TF2 is no different. There are lots of people who get bitten by a scammer, and sometimes it is the only way to learn. I am sure you will not get caught again. My advice is only deal with reputable sites, since there are many admins around who will give you advice and educate you about safe trading. When in doubt, pause and check things out, never be in a rush to trade anything of value. If someone truly wants to buy they will wait. I feel for you my friend, you got burnt, be smart and do not get burnt again.
All you can do now is what you have done, file a report here to the best of your ability with as much evidence as possible and according to SR rules. I know it is a pity scammers get away with stuff, but at least YOU my friend have taken action here, a great many people suffer in silence and they get away with it far easier. I can promise you many admins not connected with SR keep an eye on reports and do watch out for scammers, even if SR is not able to tag all of them due to lack of evidence.
