What happened? Description:

hi i offered my bayonet Doppler phase 4 full sun on the market and this guy invited me he said that he would pay me 300 keys in dollars ($600) for the item obviously i couldn't refuse that but was very hesitant on the trade he said that he would send me the money as soon as i did the trade at first i didn't want to because i know PayPal scam, he then referred me to his profile which was level 47+ and had almost +600 comments of +reps and all his transaction history, i have reported him to steam, i have contacted PayPal but no action is being taken...all i want is for my item to be returned or for this guy to give me at least 400 dollars which is its minimum price worth in keys

I did not take a screenshot of the chat window, I copied it onto a txt. file​

oh yeah and when I agreed to the trade and sent him my item he said "thanks" deleted me then blocked my profile, I have tried contacting him through many different ways but have been unsuccessful

hi this happened a few weeks back and I closed the chat by mistake before I could take a screenshot of it, is there a way I can reopen the chat then I will gladly take a screenshot of the chat and send it.

only reason im adding it at this time is I only really started using steamrep now and steam has not banned this guy yet and only banned him for 10 days according to his profile which is not right

yes I made that report because I didn't give all the information on the accused made I tried to delete this report so the other one could be the main one but im new to steamrep and don't know how to delete reports

You can ask for a report to be closed. Just be patient. A mod will come along and sort it out for you.

The accused is trade banned.

When something is too good to be true, it is. For the future, think before you make these deals - it's on market for $300, why would he pay you $600?

Doppler's have different levels of rarity, my Doppler was the 2nd rarest and goes for 200-250 keys, I currently had a offer of 250 keys going and this guy said he would give me 300 keys in real money to beat the previous guys bet

++ the reason why I opened the report even though he is trade banned is because I have actively been checking his profile and I see that he said to someone that its only a 10 day trade ban

It's not. All trade bans are 10 years. Trade probations can be shorter.

how do you tell between a trade probation and a trade ban, so what happens to my item after he gets banned if I don't get it banned does steam atleast like delete the item or something

It will say ban vs probation. What happens varies by case.

hi I went on the scammers profile to see he is now on trade probation does this mean that he has a chance of getting the ban revoked? if yes this is the reason he can carry on scamming.

Report him for scamming again. It'll go back up to a ban.
