Are support tickets being sent to valve for severe repeat offenders? I sent one to steam support regarding the guy who scammed me, however I see some severe users continuing their scams (e.g. fake mittens has gotten a lot of cases). Steam Support should really crack down on these guys.
We advice people next to reporting to us, to make also a Steam Support ticket regarding the scam. Based on those reports valve does act by trade bans etc. As their rulings in it are not "public" its not some we can advice in. It is known tho that money trades won't be restitution worthy. But at least valve gets to know who are scamming, and if severe enough, they will trade ban, VAC ban (delete of all items) or even disable their account to them.
I have reported all of the scammers who were in possession of my stolen hats. Most have committed several offenses of hat scamming. Hopefully valve trade bans and wipes their accounts.
You Report the Scammer to Valve (Steam Support) They review the case and take action either "Trade ban" or nothing, if you have proof they will trade ban for 1st offence - 3 weeks 2nd offence - 3 months 3rd offence - LIFETIME
I was recently trade banned for some reason unknown to me how do i know how long i have been trade banned for. This is a first offence but it has taken over 3 weeks and i have not gotten a reply from my steam ticket about what i did or how long i was banned for.
I've been recently finding that a lot of individuals say they have trade bans, there's nothing on the account but when trying to trade it says they are trade banned. Did Valve stop listing it?
that is a different thing, valve has 3 statuses: 1st stage: Valve Trade Lock - Cant do anything - Valve is investigating the account. - Is temporarily. - is invisible. 2nd stage: Trade Ban - Cant trade etc. - Duration of between 3 weeks and perm. 3rd stage: Trade Probation - Can trade (in most cases) - But have some restrictions in regards to their account. (activating/buying games etc). - 3 weeks or longer. They can also lock the account ( made inaccessible by owner) due results of the investigation. It can be that from Trade Lock it goes to unlocked. As we don't have exact policy of valve, and they deviate from it often enough, there is no real way to find out. They don't share their info in the support calls we see, and we dont have all their info. All trade ban/locks are related to: - payment problems to valve for bought things - scamming - hijacked items going thru the account. - being alts of investigated ppl's accounts with above. Personally, I dont believe in the bollocks of "innocence", "careless" of where their items came from, yes, but innocence does not come from ignorance.
I have been trade probated when i click trade, gift, or add funds. I get a messages stating i am trade banned.
