What happened? Description:

My friend claimed that he accidentally reported me for having duplicated items. The "admin" he told me to add claimed that if I did not prove that my items were not duplicated my steam account would be deleted. After "showing" that I had a pending ban, they sent me a trade offer for all my items and promised to return it after 2-3 minutes. I then called them out and declined the offer.​

Based on my understanding this is because my friend accidently reported me instead of someone else who had duplicated items.

I met him a long time ago on a server but this is the first have talked to him in a while (maybe 3 years or so). I don't have any other ways to contact him. I feel like he may have been hijacked since I don't remember him acting like this.

Ok it looks like my friend was hacked. He has submitted a steam support ticket and has gotten his account back.

I believe one of my friends was hacked, and the hacker got me into believing my account was in danger. Rather foolishly I believed him because I was not aware of this scam at all, so I thought it was genuine. Next thing I knew some of my items were gone as was my account. Thankfully got it back this morning from the amazing Steam Support guys. I have been rather paranoid and shook up from the whole ordeal but starting to relax. Just looking to finalize all this stuff and put it behind me as a silly lapse in judgement.

I remember it happening yesterday, Saturday at around 5:30pm i think.

I did have mobile authenticator on but I gave him my trade offer link and the items went through with my confirmation. I dont remember what else he said to me exactly, But I do know the pictures Redstone took is essentially how this all started between me and my friend.
I'm not concerned about my items, I was so much more concerned about my account, I can always get the items back.

I did confirm the trade through mobile, and at that time I was in control of my account. Really sorry if I did not make that clear earlier.
I think this hacker got a hold of my Steam username, and when i realized it was a scam it was too late, because out of fear i shut down the computer, and received a flood of e mails saying my stuff had changed. That's when i knew he had gotten into my account and changed the info around. He didn't get anything else except my account and items, Thankfully. My email and everything else was still secure.

Read you loud and clear. I will take any precaution i can now to keep this account safe. If it is not too much to ask, do you have any other advice for keeping my account safe, so this doesnt happen again? I already put on steam guard and a whole bunch of other things, but i would like to get maximum safety from now on.
