What happened? Description:

This account contacted me pretending to be another account of a privated trader "Darkahy Mastah" (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198122827285). They linked me to the real deal's backpack.tf page, which hasn't been updated in 3 years. I played along until they requested me to make a Discord account, and follow instructions through screenshare to register at a site called "Bitskins". They eventually blocked me when they realized I was messing with them.​

Ah, I mistook the backpack link for another account when it is actually the same. Nevertheless, it's pretty obvious that this account was privated 3 years ago and is now owned by someone attempting to scam people and directing them to "Bitskins".

Yes, actually, I did read your message. I thought the backpack.tf link led to another account, and I was mistaken. Therefore, this report is not for impersonation.

Rather, I'd like to direct your attention to them requesting me to use "Bitskins" to "get the full details" of my unusual, wanting me to make a Discord account to follow their steps in a browser before the trade.

That's a pretty typical kind of "verification" scam, from what I gather. If you disagree and see nothing wrong with that, or will continue to ignore what I say in favor of pursuing the impersonation point, feel free to mark it as invalid.

Oh, and upon further inspection, I was correct about the impersonation as well.

The Backpack.tf link that was sent is for 76561198122827285, while their ID is 76561198092056821.

Unfortunately Steam hid the URL with an embed. But compare the BP value from their link with the BP value of the impersonator's account.

The second image is the account the link leads to. The third is the impersonator's account.

They're impersonating someone with a much larger backpack. The Steam IDs do NOT match up.

Steam doesn't show the whole link itself because of the new UI update. Blame Gabe.

If you really, genuinely do not believe me, bother checking their backpack yourself if you're capable of that.
