    Scam Report

Report Type: [Rep Fraud] Impersonation with intent to defraud
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198084933957

    Victim profile: 76561198049241174

    What happened? Description:
First I was added on Steam by a person by the name CoCoPutate (SteamID64: 76561198194683689)
    | steamname: CoCoPutate
    | steam3ID: [U:1:234417961]
    | steamID32: STEAM_0:1:117208980

He told me that he accidentally reported items from my backpack and that now my Steam account might get banned. To evade this, I would need to contact an admin to whom he provided me the Steam URL to add and talk to. This "admin" is the accused person in this report.

The admin then tried to be professional in the way he talked to me and also created a fake gif of my acount showing some fake admin menus and a pending ban (LINK: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd....949/CE45A70CD52FA17E244277AD94B45C7CAFD4BAD5/)

They asked for my tradeoffer URL and in order to gather enough evidence, I gave it to him, knowing I could change it later on.

The trade offer was sent from yet another different account (SteamID64: 76561198309801746)

Upon inspecting the tradeoffer Steam informed me that the account has been reported for trade violation before. Seems to have been going a while.

What I found interesting is that the CoCoPutate guy has one steamrep-banned person in his friends list (steamid64: 76561198330825481) who got banned for doing the exact same scam, I found that out right after the guy added me by checking his steamrep profile and was prepared for the scam, thanks for your work steamrep!

@Quad_Plex [GER] You always report the FIRST user you were involved with NOT this one you reported.
You basically did the report backwards but doesn't matter now.
The reason your seeing relation to names or users from past reports is because its likely the same situation and that is HIJACKING
Please do not make reports like this here anymore - the accounts are typically hijacked and therefore not something we should be tagging for as once the users recover the accounts they have additional hardship to do here from tags.
Report them to Valve and let Valve handle them and lock the accounts down.
EVERY SINGLE one that you ever get "accident reported you" those are hijacked accounts..we've not had a single one that was different or controlled by the true owner.
I'm likely to tag the account you accused here but I won't touch the other for now. Make sure you've reported ALL of them to Valve including the other from 11 days ago...report them if you haven't.
Advise back that you've done so and understand what I'm getting at here.

Hello @Horse, thank you for the quick response.
I'm sorry for mixing up the order of the accusations, I'd thought the person trying to get the tradeoffer would be the prime accusee; lesson learned.
As for the type of report, wouldn't any type of scam be just as easy to pull off from a hijacked account as creating a new account and stealing someone else's bio, which also happens? Often the scammers change their complete profile with 1 click after they're found out to avoid detection. Not trying to argue with you - just interested.
And yes I have reported every single one of the accounts to Valve through their steamcommunity profile.

If the account is hijacked then Valve needs to address it not us.
If the account is attempting any sort of phishing or hijacking that too should be reported to Valve.
Every single one of these "accident reported" situations have been from hijacked accounts...their goal is to point you to a "fake admin" whom then points you to a account that CAN trade to get items...the others can't trade since they were hijacked and do not have the ability to push items once received to the true account because of mobile auth is locked down.
So anytime you get these just report them to Valve - and I highly advise you make a note on YOUR profile for others to leave a comment message as to why they randomly add you otherwise don't accept them. I do this and it works 1000% of the time to weed out any of these and others that are just phishing for someone to mess with.

Ah I see what you're trying to get at here. I thought this was just a variation of the "verified" middleman scam but your explanation makes sense in that they can't trade from the first account. Thank you for clarifying.

Also thanks for the advice on random friend requests, though I don't mind them. Most of them are easy enough to spot as scam from the first message and those that don't spark my interest as to what new scam method these scumbags thought of this time haha.
