What happened? Description:

This user tried to buy my unusual hat for PayPal cash saying that he will go first and use the "Family and friends" payment method, so he can't refund it after agreeing on that. I trusted hin with this process as we used to do some unusual trades some while ago then I helped him with trading in his beginnings. He acted hesitant, which contributed to the seemingly legit vibe of the trade. Then he said that he sent me the money and showed me a screenshot of the payment sent, which looked legit (compared to a legit trade I have done a week earlier). Also an e-mail arrived to my address, which I haven't checked yet by that time. I kept refreshing my PayPal front page to see if the money has arrived, but it hasn't, so I checked the e-mail, which also looked legit at first glance, but it was sent in a different language from mine (my paypal emails always come in Czech) and it was sent from some @gmail.com address, which is the thing that alerted me that this was a scam. I feel bad for the guy, but after doing what he has done, he has to be punished. He also admitted that he scammed a different person before me and that he does some scamming on Discord. Their support page has tons of info on how to avoid scams.The main scam you run into is people asking you to "Send the money as a gift" instead of sending the money as "Payment for goods and services"If you send the money as payment for goods and services, paypal will work on your behalf to refund you if the other party did not provide what you agreed to buy from them. In my experience, NEVER send money as a gift, unless it is, of course, a gift.I exclusively use Paypal and I love it
Quandarious Gooch 24 Oct, 2015 @ 6:35pm I wouldnt usually send out a paypal link on steam just to be safe. try doing it on other websites and stuff there can be alot of hackers lurking around just waiting for something like this, but you can also be fine. just go over all your security and make sure its all realy hard. and for the best password use caps, numbers, letters, and spetial symbols if available. ex: H@x0r hope this helped

I added this user months ago, I couldn't possibly scroll so far down in Activity tab to take the screeenshot of me adding him. However I took a screenshot containing both the chat box, his profile and the mini-profile if that helps.

I don't think the trade history will show you anything, because like I mentioned before, the scam attempt was unsuccessful, because I realized something was off when I saw that the e-mail address which sent me the "paypal money reception" was from some gmail account. However I can provide the PayPal activity in a screenshot below.

By attempting ot lie to a SteamRep admin, I doubt that you actually want to stop scamming like you told me yesterday. You are apparently not taking this seriously.

Hello, and first of all sorry for calling you, second, I know I am gonna get banned so I am just gonna admit what happened, I tried to scam Honibear out of his unusuals, I tried to use paypal scam method, I failed, before I tried to scam him I went on CSGO discord trading servers and tried to scam people there saying that I would be wanting to buy stuff with paypal but instead I would scam them, this never happened, I never scammed anyone out of their money except for steam user Purplepigeon70: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199102917226 I mainly added this guy to scam him out of his unusuals which were worth like 21 keys, after I managed to scam this guy I felt bad and wanted to give him his items back which I did, I dont have any evidence of this happening but you can ask Purplepigeon70 about it, after I scammed him of his 21 keys and gave it back, then I came back to scamming because I saw people talk about scamming and how it was easy and all that and at the time I had inventory worth 0 dollars, so after I gave him back his items I thought, hey that was really easy and he is pretty senseless about trading so why dont try that again and this time I scammed him out of his 49 keys inventory worth of unusuals, then I went gambling/got scammed and lost all the stuff I stole from him, after that I went on csgo discord trading servers and tried to scam people but it never worked, I only took items from Purplepigeon70 which I am willing to return to him, I feel really s✿✿✿ about what I did and ruined trust of my good friends which I've known for years, I hope they forgive me, just wanted to get this off my chest, and sorry about my immature reply, I thought emojies looked funny and I wanted to make childish "joke" out of it, I will return all the money back to purplepigeon70, I have him added on friends so no one will get hurt except my reputation.

No never, I just got into scamming like last 2-3 weeks, I only stole items from Purplepigeon70 and no one else, now that I think about it even if I did not fail to scam Honibear I would have gave him him stuff back too.. but yes now I am trying to get items for Purplepigeon70, he said he wanted orbiting planets robin hood hat and silver cyclone snipers stakeout which I promise to give back I just need some time to get those items

and as I said I tried to scam people over discord but it never really worked, I also added people who had knives to scam them but still didnt work, I also went into csgo deathmatch servers and went to spectate mode to look for players with knives, I would add them and try to scam them but it still never really worked but yes I have tried to scam other people too
