Since around a week ago, I was selling this unusual around outpost:
The scammer added me by that time, offering around 6 buds in PayPal for it.
After several days of talking with said scammer, I decided to go first in the trade (Don't hit me, I know. He was very convincing), as none of us wanted to go first.
I was extremely patient and understanding, trying to get the player and I to a mutually favorable agreement.
The final trade was his inventory's miscs and hats as an insurance, for the hat. After I received payment, his hats and miscs would have been traded back. (I would never had gone without taking something, I saw this coming from miles away, yet I fell for it)
After said trade was concluded, he claimed to having sent the payment. I did not receive it, asked for a transaction id, and he promptly gave a fake one. I decided to wait a couple days in order to see if the payment was being held by PayPal or something of sorts, until I stumbled upon this post in Outpost:

He was hurrying to get rid of the hat he just scammed off me.
Added screenshots of chat and the trade window (Important moments), in order to back my argument (Can provide more screenshots if required).

To be honest, I would only like my hat back, as it took a great deal of work to trade up to it.
Sadly, I don't think I'll ever own it again.

It looks like the player's account was accessed without his consent and the real account's owner has it back. He (The account's real owner) is willing to give me my hat back, yet due to him changing his password to get his account back, he is unable to revert the trade until steam support (which we contacted) reverts it themselves. I will update this thread as soon as I confirm if he's really giving me my hat back.
For the meantime, please put this on hold. (I'm truly sorry about the inconveniences this could create, but if the player I negotiated with was not actually him, and if he's really giving me my hat back, I would hate it to have an innocent marked as a scammer.)

After much negotiation, I got my hat back. Thank you for your patience.
