I am new to this website and I have learned of it through being prevented to join TF2 servers as of late due to the fact that I have not played the game until now for a significant amount of time(roughly 3 years). According to this website I "impersonated with the intent to scam" and due to that I am a "scammer". Here is the link to my offense: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/76561198025465007-impersonator-sir-coarse-air.17878/

I am not just appealing this, but I am demanding to know the evidence of this "intent to scam". I recall this member from a TTT server in GMOD, where I would "impersonate" people on the server for the sake of recreation. The fact that someone went this far does not surprise me, but the fact that the person reviewing that marked me as a scammer really does enrage me. I request this accusation be removed from my account and the forum thread that caused this.

I will be monitoring my appeal process very closely, I greatly appreciate all assistance. Thank you for your time.

Also, according to "http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/expanded-faq-recommended.7263/page-2#post-120656", even if I was found guilty of scamming, a "warning" tag would be applied.

I am not saying that I deserve a "warning" tag instead of this, I am merely pointing out the flaws in my investigation that took course on December 28, 2012.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    "Warning"
If such happens (trade value of bills or higher or unusual), a first offense can be done off with a warning, depending on the circumstances. This is often done in chat with the offender. A note of the warning is stored in private notes on their SR profile.

    "Caution"
If the circumstances don't allow for a warning, for it was too obvious a alt, repeated offenses, should have known to check SR etc, then a Caution tag is applied. The caution tag or subsequent Scammer tag (see below) can be one time appealed to lower 1 level. A caution tag will therefore be lowered to a "Private" caution tag that is only viewable by SCA's and SR admins. If at a later date a offense occurs, its upgraded again, and cannot be removed. There are some exceptions, and those are within the freedom of the admin dealing with it. Basically the admin can say: this was accidental or could not foresee or w/e and not upgrade the tag, but it would be recorded also.

    "Scammer"
Once its been multiple times, and the above warning/repeat offenses/caution didn't work to prevent the trader to continue to trade with scammers, a scammer tag will be applied.

Today, Bare bear(Sir Coarse Air) added me as, and we where talking about what actually happened on the day "December 28, 2012". After his explanation, it was all just to have fun and not used against scamming/impersonating.

In my experience, normally someone who impersonate someone, would use it against someone to "scam" people or "break rules" To blame the person who he impersonate.

I would like to help him out and remove his "scammer" tag, since he meant it good, not bad.

I have a testimony from the user that reported me and I provided extensive information but no investigation or even reply yet? What kind of website is this? You condemn players without any fair trial and you don't even look at your appeals.

Bare Bear, the SR Staff are extremely busy with all the other appeals. If you looked through all other reports, you would notice that. All staff members donate their time here, and they aren't paid. They don't need to be doing this, but they do so out of their own generosity and wanting to help the community.

Side note: Bumping usually delays the process of your appeal.

Yes, but I also notice that the amount of resolved appeals are well under 5% of the total amount over the period of 1-2 years. I do not want to be cliche', but in this case it is the truth: I was unjustly restricted from a multitude of servers from an investigation made informally on this website. Any "SR Staff" could read through this and see that this is an easy fix, unless they wanted to make my life worse due to the "trouble" I'm causing here.

(On a side note: I realize I am potentially prolonging the process, but I felt at this time that this needed to be addressed.)

As of now, there are 373 pending, 2 "read me", and 1 "improper format". All dating back to July 10, 2012.

If this website is going to restrict players without an appeal process then they're ignorant. However, if a website restricts players with an appeal process that is never accounted for... then that's abuse of power.

Oh and don't tell me about the theory that "bumping" will only delay the process if something such as this exists: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/76561198064499113-kok-remster06-sr-scammer.8708/ (Check the date on the respective thread.)

I'm leaving my profile as private until I get a genuine response from this. When I see this is going under investigation I will open it up again.

That is a terrible idea. Setting your profile to private might invalidate your appeal.

From the faqs (found here: http://forums.steamrep.com/pages/faq/ )

For Scammer Appeals, what are the rules?
You must have a public profile and public backpack. If it isn't public, don't even bother.

I have found appeals over 1 year old with no responses or changes. If mine can go for 4 months without admin intervention, it will most likely go on indefinitely. This website has openly shown they don't care for appeals:

    UPDATES:

Profile is public(I don't see the point in prolonging the process, however I have my doubts still. Plus, I would like the freedom to keep my privacy.)

Apologies for the delays-- as you know, we are severely understaffed.

Note that you're quoting the rules for trading with a scammer, not for impersonation with intent to scam.

Griefing and harassing people on servers is a great way to create confusion like this-- since we constantly see scammers impersonating traders and then making their profiles private, you didn't do yourself any favors in looking reputable.

Given the original accuser did not provide much evidence as guidance for "intent to scam" and further recants that, I think there's definitely grounds to reduce/remove your tag, if you can provide a little more information.

I need to do a little more research, but to help speed things along, can you disclose what alternate accounts you use on Steam and whether or not you use them for trading?

Yes I can. I have one alternate account that I hardly ever use and definitely do not trade on. The only game on that account is GTA IV: Liberty City. Here are its Steam links:

Thanks for the information. I'm removing your tag as I see no trade-related justification to retain it.

I do highly recommend you avoid troll impersonation and general game griefing, as those tactics are often confused with scamming or other shady tricks that will harm your reputation in the Steam community.

Our apologies for the delay in handling the appeal.
