Subject had a private profile going into the trade in which I was requested to middleman. I warned the seller that this person was probably not someone I would normally deal with, and a few minutes later, I was asked if I "still had the unusual" in my pack. Victim sent his unusual to an injected middleman. I never had it.

I swear that I didn't accept any friend request while I's talking in the chat room with real middleman and the scammer.
He just appeared to be a friend and can send me trade request directly.

It's always wise to confirm with whomever you are trading or using as a middleman that they are currently in the Steam Trade window with you.
When you open a Steam Trade with whomever you are dealing with, just ask them to confirm in steam chat, and wait for them to message you so you know you aren't getting deceived

Sorry to hear you got scammed though; hopefully he will get tagged as a scammer and won't be able to scam anyone else.

He just added me a moment ago, I accepted. Let's see what happens.

I'd recommend listing him as a scammer immediately either way. Checked his steamrep and it was clean, had to find this thread to make sure.
