Steamname lalala added me and wanted to buy my two karambits (CSGO items) and offered to get a middleman. I told them to get one from the Steamrep page and they got an imposter. I failed to recognize that it was an imposter and gave the scammer's accomplice (disguised as a wannabe Jerry) my two karambits. Both walked. I have screenshots of all chats, their profiles, the scammer WITH MY ITEMS IN THEIR INVENTORY, and the trade log that shows me giving both items to the wannabe MM.

Cannot copy/paste text. Everything is in the chat but steam d/c and I had to close it, thus losing the actual chat logs.

From the looks of it I'd say http://steamcommunity.com/id/_JerryJames0 is a textbook impersonator of a legit trader - http://steamcommunity.com/id/JerryJames

I wouldn't say stupid. Reading the report you provided, I'd probably fall for it too. Any chance of getting the items back?

No idea. I submitted the same screenies that are here to steam, but people have told me that they don't refund/replace items too often. I can only hope for the best.

I have possibly some good news; some user allegedly got duplicates of his items back after being scammed for paypal money (duplicates because the scammer traded the items away already). They mention it in this thread somewhere http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/how-to-get-your-gifts-items-back-revoke-scammers.4565/ It seems like Valve has a one-time-exception policy on "refunding" a user scammed for things outside of steam, like paypal. But don't quote me on that, it may be just a disinformation; just what I read from a user.
Seeing you did almost everything you could to prevent being scammed, even using a middleman, you're imo really not to blame for falling for it. And seeing these items are pretty damn expensive, if what I read was true, I think you'll get your items back from Valve. But again, it might not be true, who knows. Did you ever hear back from Valve support? Guess not, still too early.

I'm surprised to see this report still pending btw but I suppose steamrep has a lot of reports to go through.
