What happened? Description:

This user added me to pay $215 for my Demonflame Fr-O. I proceed to question his trading habits and his account details (which upon first glance seemed to check out), but I didn't notice he had slipped me a false sourceop link. His account seemed somewhat convincing, though his English was of a variable quality. I went first foolishly, and he never sent any cash - I tried to appeal to him afterwards, but I could not get to him; perhaps he had removed me as a friend. I had asked to use a middleman, but being inexperienced with cash trading, he scared me away from that option.

Having followed him into a trade server, he was kicked for being AFK. His IP stated that he was from Mongolia, Ulanbaatar as opposed to Alaska where his steam page said he was from.

I do not know who he is, and after looking into it, it appears he was impersonating another user. He has a plethora of high-value items on his account; I fear that I may not be the first person he has scammed. I hope that you can look into this.

He's moved his hats into an alternate account most likely. The Unusual Hat I traded to him is by a backpack.tf estimate the only one in the world.

have to agree, this guy added me too willing to buy my chiroptera tyrants for my B/O, told me almost same things he told to you, hes not going first because "huge rep" when i asked him to buy me the buds or use a middleman he stopped answering me, weird because he has a SR middleman into friends list, i didnt went first and i still have my hat, i saw he bought 3 hats yesterday in less than 2 hours, today they became 2 max's heads, check his backpack.tf, this may be an account stealer

Update, was looking to his items in BP.tf when the max's heads have both disappeared

Yep, I was looking at his bp.tf when all the hats dissappeared. The Max's dissappearing is quite suspect too now. Maybe they're on the steam market?

Im afraid to say this, but those may have been quicksold for real money, only chance is to mark his account and deny any future scam

I was expecting this, so its alright. I just hope this a✿✿✿✿✿✿ and people like him will get stopped.

i dont think i can make a report since 1: i didnt went first, that makes it only a scam attempt on me 2: i didnt take a screenshot since the guy looked clean, i just kept checking his rep waiting if something was wrong, when i saw this it was already too late because steam cleaned up the chat i had with him, making it impossible to get back, i did however report him via steam hoping he gets a trade ban... cant do more i think

But preventing him to scam other people's item is a job for all of us. It depends on you if you wanted to do the report or not. I'm here just to assist if someone needed help.
