    Scam Report

Report Type: [Other] Any other fraudulant behavior
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198086782568 (Heartbreaker)

    Victim profile: 76561198086312574

    What happened? Description:
    I came back from being afk to notice i had a friend request, i added him to see what i could do for him. He said that he wanted to buy my buds, I never advertised on steamrep that i was selling my buds s straight away i knew something was going on, When i said i was selling for 19 instead of 18 he simply agreed. The conversation went like this;

    anyone.
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: Hey man
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: how can i help?
    Heartbreaker: hi
Heartbreaker: how many keys for your each bud ?
    byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: 18
    Heartbreaker: okay
Heartbreaker: how many buds do you hav ?
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: its 19 keys, my mistake
    byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: and only 1
    Heartbreaker: okay
    Heartbreaker: but wait
Heartbreaker: could you provde me a proof, that you wont cancel the deal after i buy the keys at markey
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: How? I can link my steamrep
    Heartbreaker: wait
Heartbreaker: do you hav trusted friend that can hold your bud as a proof, before i buy the keys

    Now im a big fan of tf2 videos on youtube, and i recall seeing someone getting scammed out of an unusual by a method where they give their friend the item, then the scammer changes their name and picture to look exactly like the items owner, they will add the friend and ask for the item at the back, I proceeded to take a look at his steam prfile, noticing he didn't even have a backpack on tf2, so i confronted him, just to get removed;

    byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: Lol
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: i can see where this is going
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: you will change name and pic to mine
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: then add him
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: claiming to be me
    Heartbreaker: no
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: then take the bud back
byJooe B> TF2 Backpacks / BPs: Im trusted dude, you dont even have a tf2 bp
    Heartbreaker is now Offline.

Now i know its not guaranteed thsat he was a scammer, but why would someone without a tf2 backpack, or tf2 even installed want an earbud...

Thank you for taking the time to read this, i know its not definite it was an attempted scam, but it was highly probable. Thanks again, Joe.

He used the exact same thing on me. I was stupid enough to believe it.

Yeah, it's a common scamming way, you put wrong report type, should be "impersonating with intent to defraud", but that's not a big problem.
Can you provide full, uncropped version of your chat log just in case?

Unfortunately, i have closed the chat window now, but there are other reports of him attempting the same thing, such as the person above you

Other reports are other reports, they will be checked separately from this one.
And I'm not sure if your evidence in this report is enough, you should've not cropped that chat.
And hey, you also could "agreed" on that offer for him to invite the impersonator, it would be great to ban two scammers accounts instead of one.
