Well im a sharker I dont mind admitting that..... Well What I wanna discuss is if you think it is wrong
I was a scammer so I know that inside and out but that isnt what im discussing....

Let me know what you think of sharking because id like to know your opinion..... I have a sharking series "reported" on here and I just wanted you guys too know what I think about it.

Sharking is when you give alot less than what the item(s) is worth.
Isnt most trading like this? Maybe not a lot less, but it is still less does that make it wrong?
    I dont think so...

Provide your opinions on this matter id like your feedback

Sharking is NOT about the disparage of either side's value.
Sharking is about abusing a unknowing trader to pay way less then its worth. While if that trader had known the worth of his or the traded for items, he'd never done it.
Therefore, sharking isn't about the difference in price that has been traded. A Trader can want a certain item very much for his own reasons, and overpay for it (sweets etc), but that does not count as sharking.

SR's stance is that we cannot judge on these fairly for a number of reasons (provability, intent, disparage in price can't be a guideline, etc). We do however reserve the right to act in extreme cases.

The advice to the people that have been sharked is: report it on the sharker's profile to valve/steam support's automation.

Many many SR affiliated communities will absolutely ban sharks if they are reported, but SR cannot for reasons above.

So what you were doing was "feeling out the admin" to see what exactly you could get by with.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions and opinions to clarify the understanding of the rules around grey areas. They are typically the area's that need the most discussion because there are no clear rules, when really there needs to be to ensure fair treatment across the board. You shouldn't berate people who come here to ask genuine questions, regardless of what the topic is.

So... when you trade your weapon for some hat you can get banned on Steam (or the server you were trading on) if that person will find out about your shark?
I could understand some high value differences (like in keys) but not the differences of some metal.

im a cookie Let's say you unboxed an unusual hat, had no clue what it was worth at all.
I offer you some cheap halloween item for it.
    You agree.
Later on, you find out your unusual hat was worth 15 keys, and the halloween item was worth 2 scraps.
    How do you feel?

When it comes to unfair deals, you need to be honest. Did you know, there are actual traders who don't care about money, and will have no problems giving you big deals.
How big, I can not say, because I always try to be honest, but still end up making great profit.

Honestly. Nobody HAS to follow backpack.tf prices. Anyone could say my Festive Black Box (Strange) is worth buds. Sharking is a way many people have made profit but honestly it's like giving a guy 1 Euro ($1.33) for something that costs $1. Not such a big deal.

Skarking for me its just wrong! Its wrong in so many ways. "They do not wish to trade fairly. They intend to make a profit with deception and fraud."

I think sharking victims also are at fault. If I were to trade and I didn't know the value of stuff I would do some research. It's not that hard, just requires using your brain.

Often times the people targeted are kids who do not trade.

Similar to saying babies who have candy stolen from them are at fault. (not to say some don't do the adequate research, some don't and obviously share some blame, but others don't know better)

There's nothing good about sharking. I guess if you're a sharker you would think otherwise.

Its just there. Doesn't cause much, and isn't really a scam. Just people trying to sell something without a price in mind.

From one side it IS a scam, just the other party (victim) doesn't know till short or long after his trade. This brings all kinds of problems for us to process the report, hence we do not process them.
