    Scam Report

Report Type: [Money] PayPal scam or scam attempt
Virtual item type involved: [DOTA2] Dota2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198131488264 ()

    Victim profile: 76561198007905515

    What happened? Description:
Quick Summary: This scammer agreed to buy 30 Dota 2 keys from me & initiated Paypal chargeback.

Note [URGENT]: Please check my 2nd report below of his Main/Alternate Steam account & Verify that he has my Dota 2 keys in that inventory (before he can sell them!):

Scam Details: This person, Fargus, commented on my profile ( http://i.imgur.com/qcAXSMQ.jpg ) then added me, asking to purchase Dota 2 keys. I hesitated at first but then I saw that his Steamrep profile is clean with no -rep on Steamtrades, his Steam account seems fine with 50 games, including some newer AAA titles. I also asked for his Paypal account, which is a verified account. I googled that account's name & found a matching Twitter account with tweets in Russian, which matches his explanation for his broken English.

Looking back, there are many red flags that I should have caught, and I should have known better. Because his account looks suspicious with almost no gameplay hours at all, plus I guess most of the games (Thief, Wolfenstein TNO) he has are recently bought & he will chargeback their payments very soon. This is definitely a second account created for scamming purpose (Again, please check my 2nd Report below of his Main/Alternate account that I found before he can sell all the keys). Hindsight is 20/20, but I still feel very stupid at the moment :(

We did 2 transactions ( http://i.imgur.com/tiITQtJ.jpg ): the 1st one he went first with $19 Paypal transaction then I traded him 10 Dota 2 treasure keys. The 2nd he also went first with $38 Paypal transaction then I traded him 20 Dota 2 treasure keys. Then he wanted to trade the rest of my keys, at this point I was getting increasingly suspicious & uncomfortable with this trade. I stopped, told him we can do more trades later, but him rushing it and wanting to finish right away made me even more suspicious ( http://i.imgur.com/21AnsCF.jpg ).

On the following morning, both of the Paypal transactions were reversed / chargebacked ( http://i.imgur.com/RnBy4jU.jpg ). He has removed me on Steam, I tried adding him again but he ignored then blocked me. ( http://i.imgur.com/wRcXwBP.jpg ). He has changed his name to Batruxa as of now. I'm trying to dispute these on Paypal but it probably will not work, so the best I can do now is to warn other potential victims from this scammer.

    Thank you for your time!

    2ND Report: his Main/Alternate Steam account: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198068742439

Reason: I have identified his main Steam account as above, and here is why:

As of this moment, all of my Dota 2 keys has disappeared from his scamming account. I figure he must have either:

    (1) Sold them all on Steam Market
    (2) Traded them for other items/games
    (3) Transferred to his main Steam account to sell/use.

I looked through his friends list and found this suspicious account (GO-GO EMPIRE ¤) ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198068742439 ), ( http://i.imgur.com/Jm0BxqF.jpg ), who has many Dota 2 keys for sale.

I used TF2Outpost to check his backpack ( http://www.tf2outpost.com/backpack/76561198068742439,570 ) and found 24 Dota 2 keys that belonged to me, by checking previous owner of the keys ( http://i.imgur.com/K1KPUFG.jpg ). I took screenshots of all these keys profiles and attached them to this report.

[IMPORTANT / URGENT] Please, please any admin/moderator reading this, please go to check his backpack right now to verify that there are 24 keys previously owned by Taoito. Because he is trying to sell them away, and it will be hard to track down afterwards.

Here he is trying to sell the keys (description in Russian on his Steam profile & advertising on Dota2Lounge and another Russian site): ( http://i.imgur.com/g9dMYTJ.jpg )

So that is why I eliminated Case (1), it's highly unlikely that Fargus/Batruxa has sold all 24 keys to the same person GO-GO EMPIRE through the Steam market and that they're also friends on Steam. I also eliminated Case (2) because I do not see any item worth that much in his current inventory: he has no TF2 item, only 1 cheap Dota weapon, no games ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198131488264/inventory/ ) His total games count still stand at 50 when I first traded with him.

This leaves only Case (3) left: Fargus/Batruxa has "Transferred to his main Steam account to sell/use" and his Main account GO-GO EMPIRE is an account that currently sells Dota 2 keys ( http://i.imgur.com/g9dMYTJ.jpg ) on multiple sites. This is why I am sure that GO-GO EMPIRE is the Main/Alternate account of this scammer.

    Thank you for your time!

    Provide Evidence:
1stContact: he commented & added me to buy Dota keys

FullChatLog: our full conversation & agreement.

    TradeHistory: I traded him 20 + 10 Dota keys in 2 transactions.

PaypalChargeback: 2 open claims for both transactions.

BlockedMe: he removed & blocked me the next morning.

HisMainAccount: his Main/Alternate account on his friends list.

MainAccountSellingKeys: his Main account selling Dota 2 keys on multiple sites.

BackpackWithMyKeys: checking his Main account's TF2Outpost profile backpack reveals 24 Dota 2 keys belonged to me.

[IMPORTANT / URGENT] Please, please any admin/moderator reading this, please go to check his backpack right now to verify that there are 24 keys previously owned by Taoito. Because he is trying to sell them away, and it will be hard to track down afterwards.

    Hello Taoito,

Can you give a screenshot of ALL your paypal history?
Just click on View all of my transactions, and give an uncropped version of the entire event.
Make sure it shows at least one month of history.

    Thanks!

Sure, I have attached here one month of Paypal transactions history. This includes 4 screenshots of 2 pages of transactions.

Also, since I already have you here in this thread, could you please, please go to check his backpack right now to verify that there are 24 keys previously owned by Taoito (using TF2Op's items profile & owners checking). Because he is trying to sell them away, and it will be hard to track down afterwards & hard to prove any connection to the scamming account. You just need to confirm here that you have seen these items as described in his backpack, it does not necessarily confirm anything, and you don't have to conclude anything about him right away. The investigation can still continue as needed.

Thanks a lot for your time!

Oh no, looks like it's already too late : /

He has already made his main account's inventory private! He has deleted his Dota2lounge thread, he has deleted both of his threads on the Russian trading site.
This really confirms my suspicion that he is the scammer's alternate/main account.

But I have all the screenshots provided here in this thread. Hopefully the SR Admins and Moderators can check on this.

Hi, it has been more than 3 months and there hasn't been an update for this case yet.

Could any admin take some time to review this or let me know if I need to submit any other evidence.

I would really appreciate it! Thanks for your time.
