I posted a trade on TF2outpost advertising a Service Medal and Bill's Hat for offers, including real world cash. Werd Son? added me almost instantly. His profile being private obviously made me suspicious. He offered up a "middleman", and that "middleman" had a suspiciously private profile as well. I did not do the trade.

On a side note, who is this middleman you proposed to him? I've never heard of him myself, although that might just be me.

The middleman was obviously impersonating a trusted SR middleman by the way.

Yeah, at the end of the chat with the impersonator, you can see I linked the real TommY's profile. The guy didn't have anything to hide except similar friendship, it may have been smarter for him to copy+paste TommY's profile text, but NOPE. Scammers are silly.

The middleman I proposed is somebody who had offered on an old trade thread of mine, and I tried to find his profile and discovered he was a middleman. I'd never tried to find any through other means, but his profile seemed legit with SteamRep+, a rep thread and current trades all conveniently linked. I've not actually used him yet either, but it was the last shot I thought I'd try; lo and behold the scammer went offline.
