What happened? Description:

Accused member added me on Steam Fri 19th Dec to inquire about a knife I had advertised on CSGOlounge. He provided me with an offer which I told him I'd consider and we spent most of the afternoon chatting.

The following day, Sat 20th Dec, we revisited the subject and I agreed to sell him the knife at the price we'd discussed earlier, $220. He agreed to send the money via PayPal.

I traded him the knife first, this being one of his PayPal trade conditions. While I was blindly trusting him, I believed he had the credentials to warrant it - an 8 year account with over 3,300 market transactions and not a single report on SteamRep. I was incredibly alert for any kind of middleman or second account technique; I offered the trade to him through our Steam conversation after confirming I was conversing with his actual Steam account.

I traded the knife, he claimed to have sent the money. He mentioned then that there may be a 5-10 minute delay in seeing the funds, as he used his credit card. 30 minutes later, nothing had shown on my PayPal so I sent him a message. A further 30 minutes later, 60-70 minutes after the trade took place - I messaged him again. He replied to none of these. Shortly afterwards, he went offline.

At that point, I still thought I may be jumping the gun in submitting a report - until I read on PayPal's website that the transaction should have shown up in My Account immediately, regardless of whether the funds had cleared yet or not.​

I'm a bit at a loss as to what to think. I might have jumped the gun a bit in reporting; he hasn't blocked me on Steam.

I can't explain the lack of payment / taking the knife and disappearing however.

Scrap that, he's removed me from Steam. I've been scammed.

Is there any point in bumping this any more?

No because I've already talked to a bunch of people and showed them proof that you've faked this. I've sent them my paypal disputes etc.

To anyone that matters; regardless of how good he may be with Photoshop - I can undeniably prove both that I traded him my knife and that the PayPal account I offered up received no funds. If any additional evidence is required, do not hesitate to request it.

For the record - The money doesn't phase me in the slightest. I just wish to tar the reputation of an account that is so easily trusted, to prevent others being scammed the same way I have.

Your report was accepted and the accused was banned. Feel free to report a violation via their Steam profile.

In order to do that, you have to:
1. Visit the accused's profile
2. Click "More" drop-down located at the top right of the page
3. Choose "Report Violation"
4. Select the violation, then describe it and provide the evidence
5. Click "Submit Report"
