IF SteamREP.com is down, so is the API?

    I just noticed that when checking a SR profile using the API while SR is down due to a database overload, so is the API:

    Is there any specific reason why the API (if down) is not showing up cached results?

    Yes, they're the same server right now, so if one is down the other is down. "Cached" results wouldn't be very useful because the requests come in from across a very very large range of Steam IDs which we couldn't store caches for all of them.

    We do plan eventually to have a read-only separate slave DB for the API so it will be a little faster and a lot more resilient. But that's not implemented currently.
