    Scam Report

Report Type: [Item Fraud] Misrepresenting virtual items
Virtual item type involved: [TF2] Team Fortress 2 Items

    Accused profile: 76561198042344661 ()

    Victim profile: 76561198059178428

    What happened? Description:
A few weeks ago I traded Space my vivid KE for his GE team captain + moon modest + 2 buds pure. He told me that all the items were clean including the buds (that is not duped or anything of that sort) I recently discovered the my team captain was also in someone else's backpack and realized that it was in fact duped. Because I didn't have the chatlog from the weeks ago we traded, I decided to try asking him again if the items were clean as to prove that he was dishonest about them. He says he didn't know and all - but the fact is, he told me the items were all clean and they're not. The fact that the team captain is duped horribly affects the price and makes the trade very unfavorable for me and so I offered a tradeback. He declined.

    Provide Evidence:

the first screenshot is essentially Space incriminating himself - the rest are just to complete the chatlog (in case its necessary) also, the screenshots from bptf are proof that the item is duped (its passed me on history but still clearly in my bp) - i also included the inventory history where I actually traded Space to show that the hat came from him and whatnot.

here's just the profile of the accused profile to verify its him and all.
also I want to add, whether or not backpack.tf marked my hat as duped should not matter. I didn't know how to check for dupes and i trusted that if he told me with confidence repeatedly that it was all clean then it would be. I understand his intent was not to scam me but the fact is, the hat's duped and he told me it wasn't. besides that its a horrible loss for me going from the vivid KE to the modest 2 buds and duped TC, it was not the items we agreed on in the trade. if he had agreed to a trade back, i would not have bothered with this report.

also, if this report goes through Space told me he would "do as directed" (see attachment)
if this is sufficient evidence and all and he's instructed to trade back (i can accept the roboactive KE that he 1:1ed for - the guys he traded it to aren't going to tradeback i talked to them) then I don't feel it is necessary to mark him as a scammer. but that is if and only if he actually gives the refund. also, i hope that his excuses in the chatlogs i posted aren't given too much weight because in the end the fact is that he sold me a duped item and told me it was clean. saying he didn't know is not an excuse because when he told me it was clean it implied certainty. besides saying it was clean after the trade when i came to him, he confirmed in the 7th image -http://forums.steamrep.com/attachments/7-png.109896/ that he did also say before the trade that it was clean.

Not sure why this is even a thread to be honest. It is YOUR OWN responsibility to check the cleanliness of a hat. This is in no way a difficult process, you simply go to bp.tf find the users backpack, find the item you want to check is duped and press on history. Also it is possible that the item was clean when you traded for it. Often hats go into private bps, and when they exit them, only then are they noticed by the bp.tf backpack scanner which would then and only then mark the item as a dupe. But once again...it is YOUR OWN responsibility to check both the cleanliness of a hat before trading for it as well as to check the users reputation. It is your own fault you traded for a duped hat, don't blame it on the guy who sold it to you.

I and ledeldeldo talked about his hat (Vivid KE) for more than a week and he asked me twice if my hats were clean and I told him yes because backpack.tf hadn't reported my GE TC wasn't clean. So obviously I told him what I was seeing on that website, he himself checked the history twice and was happy that hats were clean and also he tried to negotiate a lot with me to get me to add my whole backpack for his hat which I was denying over and over and then finally we traded for the things listed.

I don't know what to say anymore because he's the one responsible to check the history, even individual backpacks (if required) to check absolute cleanliness of the hat, why would I trade-back for something I didn't had my hand in. The hat wasn't being reported duped at the time we traded and even after a good amount of days after the trade happened so there was no clue for me to be paranoid about the hat. Even the last owner of the GE TC reported the hat to be clean.

I added ledeldeldo like some weeks ago asking him to lift the report since he had already cashed out from TF2, he told me he would only do it if I wore a shoe on my head and wrote down on a paper "<3 ledel" and sent him a pic of this, how ridiculous is that? I have always been a fair trader I have never scammed and there are good amount of people that can vouch for me for such things, I have never been banned on Outpost or any reputable trade / unusual server once.

Determining if BP.TF or any other item history site is 100% correct is something nobody can really go by. The evidence shown of the list of packs the item was in didn't show the item being duplicated which is available to both traders at the time of the trade.
Basically I don't see anything showing the accused tried to hide that the hat wasn't what was being described and traded for, there isn't any discussion shown prior to the trade.
As with that there doesn't seem to be any evidence to support that the trader trading away the item knew at any point the item wasn't as described.
