So basically, as it says in the chat, this guy came to me asking about how he would sort stuff out after getting "scammed". What ensued was him basically admitting he was going to accept a freshly duped hat from a guy. He was scammed as the guy asked him to download something because he apparently needed it to trade, gained remote control of auveda's computer, and took his stuff.

While its kind of crappy, auveda says it was all over voice chat and as such has no evidence, but i felt that the issue of Auveda getting screwed over because he was going to aid a duper is probably something i should report.

I feel like a dick as he came to me for help and i am, in turn, reporting him. But the fact is, what he did was very questionable and i figured should be reported.

    Cheers

Ok, this is serious s✿✿✿. Heres what happened. THis guy
    steamID: Nooby267 steamID32: STEAM_0:0:48651268 steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198057568264 customURL: http://steamcommunity.com/id/nooby267 steamrepURL: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198057568264

Added me out of nowhere and asked me to call him. I refused obviously and was gonna delete him when he finally said, its my lost of a TC. At this point, he obviously had nothing in his Backpack, so i wasnt very sure to believe him. He then finally said he would give me a team captain w/ scorching flames, if i installed this thing called. Team Viewer. which he needed to trade with. I have no s✿✿✿ idea wtf it was but, as many would do, be enticed somewhat more, in the fact I would get a free item. He had said he and his friends were going to dupe it, and i knew it was illegal to dupe items unless by support, but it didnt seem as if, trading with them would get you banned. After i downloaded this thing, he told me to give him the code and username so he could use it to trade. Later he asked if he could buy my phantom with duped buds. I rejected that as i knew duped buds weren't accepted by most people and not allowed in trading.I did as he asked, and as soon as this happened, he took total control over my computer and before i knew what happened, he had put my phantom in trade, and traded. I knew only one thing to do, and immedidately forced shut my computer. After i restarted i checked my history and linked bakc to his profile and saw that he was already tagged.

What i am saying here is that i wasn't going to aid anyone. I just accepted the fact he was going to give me a free item, out of stupidity and self greed. I truthfully didn't know however, that i would be reported for trading a DUPED item itself. I was obviously led to thinking this guy was for real and that he was serious about giving me this item. I should've checked his steamrpe first but unlike many other people, i am usually not suspicious and do not.

I also think it is very unfair on Cheesus's behalf to report me for something i was tricked into, especially the fact that i have lost the unusual and for me to also get reported for getting scammed is too much.
I informed many other admins such as Eagle Eye and Kal and they werent too concerned on my issue on this.
I hope you consider this clearly as not entirely my fault.

I also swear i did not know it was illegal to trade a duped item.

Thank you to all admins in advance and i hope this matter is consdiered in a reasonable way

As i said to you, im only reporting this because of how borderline it is. If you are in the wrong, youll get punished, if not, then youre fine. Either way, i was obligated to pass on the knowledge that i had to the proper people.

Im just doing my job, im sorry you got scammed, but you arent without fault here

Ah this must be what you tried to message me about earlier Cheesus for advice (sorry I was busy playing Dustbowl). I would have recommended to report anyway as you have done for the record.

Auveda, I have no idea how SR will react to the logs, since you have not technically done anything "wrong" per se, however you clearly show a willingness to participate in nefarious activities, and I will most certainly not welcome you on sites based on the log info. You are lucky I am not part of SR, I would hang you out to dry for your blatant willingness to deal with this person. It would be rather rude of me to call this poetic justice, so I won't :)

As for the "unfair" remarks, I expect any admins of sites I manage to conduct themselves without fear or favor and if this involves reporting issues such as this they believe warrant attention then so be it.

Just thought you should confirm things you did here:

Did you: (A simple yes or no would beneficial, feel free to explain each)
    a. Knowingly assist a person in the attempt to duplicate items, even with or without personal monetary gain?
    b. Understand that duplicating items knowingly will throw a market unbalance in the overall price for the unusual because it is duplicated?
    c. Lie, and say that you didn't know duplicating an item is "illegal" (meaning you thought it was allowed, and by your actions, even encouraging) (judging by your over 700 hours in TF2, and having a backpack with several loads of keys, and even a rare painted cow mangler)?
    d. Download a program a stranger told you to download without any prior knowledge of how it works, operates, or information it sends to the stranger, and use it as a tool to assist in the duplicating method the stranger proposed?
    e. Expect the unusual to be duplicated, then given to you as a personal/monetary gain?

Because honestly if these are true, Steam Support would have little to no on a person who thinks duplicating would not hurt anybody else who has the same hat with the same effect. (Look at max heads, 90% of people don't take level 1's or 7's as payment now.)

Also, Cheesus did the right thing to report a person who would have assisted in a duplication process, had it been the real thing, it's a very serious offense.

First, Cheesus, thank you for the report. It's always good to report ANYTHING you find suspicious, if nothing else just so we can look into it and have a record of it.

Second, I am marking this as Rejected simply because there is nothing here that is a markable offense other than trading with scammers and as this is his first report of it, this is only a warning. Auveda, check a person's SteamRep before you do any trade with them- even accepting something for free. There is a saying, "there's no such thing as a free lunch" and that definitely applies in TF2 trading. ;) If someone says they can dupe something, offers you way too much money on something you have, or offers to give you something for free- it's probably not legit and it's best to stay away from it.

Finally, this particular scammer has a history of dragging other people down with him. If he is on your friends list, I highly recommend you remove him. The evidence here points to Auveda being taken advantage of by Noobi and being more of an unwilling participant than anything else.

Once again, thank you for the report Cheesus and Auveda, please be more careful in the future. :)
