Dear SteamRep admins,

I wish to make an appeal to this case as reported by MrPeepers (http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561197960445052-kfc.1400/). Because I haven’t actually been tagged yet (http://steamrep.com/index.php?id=76561197960445052), I do not know whether it is appropriate to present my case in here. I apologize in advance if I got the wrong place.

MrPeepers here accused me that I am “Chin” (http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198053678648-lai-mui-moon.961/) and scammed two unusual hats from him. His evidence are two references (http://www.tf2items.com/item/719101276 and http://www.tf2items.com/item/719101277) showing that the hats were transferred to my account on Feb 27th.

Indeed, Chin did give me the hats because he has been a real-life friend of mine. The story is that I met him again in a party and learned that he also plays team fortress 2 but decided to quit the game. He told me he has some spare items left and asked if I want them. Chin added me the following night (Feb 27th) and gave me some strange weapons, refined metals and the two unusual hats that MrPeepers mentioned. On the next day (Feb 28th), MrPeepers added me on steam, mistook me as Chin, and demanded to have the hats sent back to him. Of course, I told MrPeepers my story, which led him to eventually call me a liar. After a semi-long conversation, I thought I persuaded MrPeepers that I am not Chin and MrPeepers gave me a couple of links proofing that the hats belonged to him. Explicitly, MrPeepers warned me that even if I am not Chin, he will get me banned from “steamrep, sourceop, tf2trader, tf2outpost and source” if I don’t return the hats to him for “taking items from a scammer” (please see screenshot).​

Please put yourself in my shoes. A friend just gave you some goodies and then not long after, a complete stranger comes up to tell you that those were stolen from him and demanded for them back, I think the most proper thing is to find this friend to sort things out. Following that night, I tried to contact Chin a couple of times (by phone), eventually reached him, and told him to go online. At that time, MrPeepers was still online, so I told Chin to add MrPeepers to deal with the issue. I made sure that they become steam friends again, and then sent the unusual hats back to Chin. On the other hand, I purposely told MrPeepers that I got Chin to add him again and that I sent the hats back to Chin so please deal with him in the future (as in a polite way of saying please don’t bother me again). MrPeepers said thanks and sorry for mistaking me, and I thought I have completed my role in this story.

Until last night, a friend informed me that I am reported on SteamRep. From my point of view, I thought I have really convinced MrPeepers that I am not Chin because in that particular night, I tried to get Chin to come online at the same time as me and we both were talking to MrPeepers simultaneously. And if you go back to the original accuse (http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561197960445052-kfc.1400/), MrPeepers stated,

"Moved the 2 scammed hats to his main account and then THE SECOND i added him on his real account "KFC", he WERIDLY traded it back to his scammer account mins after i added him and tried to talk to him.”

Honestly, nothing happened within seconds or minutes after he added me. The attached screenshot was only part of the full convo which definitely took longer than seconds or minutes (unfortunately, I never made any screenshots of the earlier chat). And besides how did I “WEIRDLY traded it back to [my] scammer account”? Heck, MrPeepers said he was going to bed and I even greeted him good night. Somehow I get the sense that because Chin never did return the hats, MrPeepers is trying to get me banned as well.

Because of this incident, I have not (and decided not to ever) contact Chin afterwards. Perhaps MrPeepers is a victim here for losing two virtual hats, but I am also a victim for being accused and losing a real-life friend.

I admit I was short-sighted by returning the hats. Simply I didn’t want any trouble so I returned them back to the original person who gave them to me for free – Chin. Unfortunately it appears that this decision was incorrect as I am here defending for myself. To be frank, I wasn’t too familiar with SteamRep as I don’t do a lot of trading. I just registered my account after seeing I was reported!

I do not have the hats anymore. As a clarification, let me summarize the whole story in point form:

• Chin told me he decided to quit tf2 and gave me some items including these two unusual hats (http://www.tf2items.com/item/719101276 and http://www.tf2items.com/item/719101277)
• MrPeepers added me the following day saying that those unusuals belong to him. He accused me of transferring those unusuals from an alt account (Chin) to my main account (kfc)
• I told MrPeepers that Chin is a friend who gave me those items for free. MrPeepers at first did not believe and called me a liar. Eventually, I persuaded MrPeepers (at least I believe I persuaded him) and he gave me a couple of links proofing those hats belong to him (please see above screenshot).
• I told MrPeepers I will contact Chin and reply to him asap. MrPeepers said he is going to bed and I greeted him good night.

Following the same night

• I was able to reach Chin by phone. I told him to go online and add MrPeepers. MrPeepers was still online at that time. I gave the hats back to Chin and told him to “handle the issue” himself
• I told MrPeepers that I gave the hats back to Chin and said please deal with Chin in the future and not me. He said okay and apologize to me for mistaking me

10 days after

• I was reported by MrPeepers for scamming his hats by using an alt account as Chin (http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561197960445052-kfc.1400/)

On the other hand, thank you for reminding me to take a screenshot of my history

If you go back the conversation that MrPeepers and I had (the above screenshot), the time was Feb 28, 10:53pm. This trade history here shows that I returned the hats to Chin on Feb 29, 12:02am. In the original accuse (http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561197960445052-kfc.1400/), MrPeepers reported that I

I don't want to call MrPeepers a liar,but I have provided enough evidence that I did not "weirdly traded it back to my scammer account mins after he added me and tried to talk to me". 10:53pm to 12:02am is definitely not minutes.
If required, I can provide my own paypal account, credit card number, and anything necessary to proof that they are not identical to Chin's.
