What happened? Description:

Paypal transaction of $250 + 5 keys for a galactic gateway burning question was partaken between me and Break here.

I sent him the money

He sends the hat to an account hijacker because his steam was hijacked. (this is noted because the trade offer he sent me was cancelled)


He refuses the return the cash to me, as stated in the chat. I have given him multiple chances, but he refused. I will chargeback after this.

I did not receive my product I paid for, and he refuses to give me my money back​

I wrote in my statement that the account got banned, and he replied 6 hours later saying he's surpriused he got banned
I told him I highly doubt I got "hacked" and would like to know if there's a way to proce I wasn't, and he completely ignored that too.
He's acting like he's 100% sure I was compromised when we're not
I even explained why.
He didn't read a single thing I wrote.

I was not the sender, I received the trade. But it was cancelled on his side.

Alright, well for starters, I didn't 'scam' anyone. I did not keep the hat and refuse to give it to him. From my understanding of what happened I made the trade on Steam,
went to verify it on my phone and the impersonator sent me a trade request that I accepted by thinking it was the one I had originally sent out waiting to be accepted.

Second, like I stated before, I'm immensely reluctant to believe I was hijacked. I got no e-mail stating that anyone signed into my account via a different connection than mine,
and I really doubt they could get my password, my phone number and my e-mail address all at once during the less than 45 minutes while we were talking about the trade.
If there's a way to prove I wasn't hijacked, I'm highly interested in knowing.
I'd also like to add that the impersonator had no known aliases other than "Infernape" and even though the account itself was made in 2014, trading activity only started on November 23rd
(My trade with the real Infernape was suppose to be November 25th, when the hat got snatched). So by all means, I don't believe this impersonator account is linked to me in any way.

Third, after this happened I was talking with Infernape and he said that he's had impersonators before, but nowhere on his profile does he state a warning about impersonators,
despite also stating that he's a proficient and semi-known TF2 trader in the community.

I may be out of shape when it comes to TF2 trading, but I'm pretty sure something like that should be displayed on your profile or username so others are aware and know to be cautious.
Even back three or four years ago when I was active in the TF2 trading community, I've never had to deal with someone who had an impersonator, so maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like any
account that's worth its salt would display this information for the sake of whomever wants to trade with them in the future.

So regardless of the fact that I intended to give it to him, and the impersonator somehow knew we were trading and sent me a trade request at the time I said I was making the trade,
I'm the one that gets left with absolutely nothing, for the other user's negligence by not mentioning that they've had impersonators previously?

I did not send the trade request to the impersonator, they sent one to me.

I filed a chargeback anyways.

And about the impersonator, the one before all of this, it was just 1 that quickly changed once he was discovered. I never got another one. It was 2 months ago.


The only way that jackass could have known about this was the have access to break's account.


Wanna know the obvious indicator of him being hijacked? The trade HE SENT ME was CANCELLED. Not declined. CANCELLED.
