The guy got scammed via middleman impersonation out of a strange huntsman and a dozen ref or so, then scammed them back out of a few unusuals. Posted the entire thing on reddit, too.

Yesterday, I got scammed. I lost my strange huntsman and 19 refined metal to a guy and fake middleman who offered me 60$(I know too go to be true). So the middleman turned out to be an imposter and if I had been more careful i would of caught that; but i didn't , so I lost it all, and then hatched and amazing plan after the real middleman who was impersonated explained to me what they did. It was a great plan and it worked better then I expected. So basically the other guy,(the scammer that wasn't the middleman) said Oh no i lost my 60$, then we talked about how sad we were and he had no idea I knew he was also a scammer. I engaged him in conversation not wanting him to block me. While hatching my plan earlier I had checked his backpack using tf2items.com so i knew it was empty. So during the conversation I said, Hey lets play some tf2. Then he told me to check out his main account and add him to my friends list. He thought i was way past getting scammed and didn't care anymore, he also didn't realize that I knew he was in on the scam. So we play a game together and were talking about the classes when i say out of nowhere, AWW SWEEET. He immediately asked why and told him that valve was being awesome. I told him: "I talked to valve support and they said they are going delete the items in 24 hours and return them to me, however they are said they are also going to delete the backpack of the fake middleman!(complete lie)" He was surprised and said that I should ask about his money(fake), to which I replied that he should talk to pay pal about that. Then he said, "I bet it was his alt acc", to which I replied "it doesn't matter, you know why?" and after he asked why I told him this, "Because your part of the scam and this is your main account! Your backpack will be deleted too as long if I don't get my stuff back is less then 24 hours". He got very scared a told me the truth. It was him and his 2 friends he gave me the other two guys main accounts as-well! Then I told him I would add there names to the ticket so their inventories would be deleted too! Then I told him that I had was going to submit the chat to Steamrep.com and get the banned from about 95% of TF2 servers!(lie). However if he gave me his inventory about 60 weapons and some uncraftable hats I would blur his name out of the chat and not get him ban, and I would take his name off the ticket! I told him that I might not be on tomorrow so he would have to do it the trade today. He did the trade and took screenshots. Then sent valve an email apologizing for scamming me, because he was afraid I wouldn't hold up my end of the deal and take his name of the ticket. The next day I log in and the other two users are online on there main accounts and they want to talk to me. Its 2 hours until the fake ticket goes off, deleting all there items from there accounts(not really) and I could still submit a ban request to Steamrep.com. Anyway one of the guys had all my items and really wanted trade them back to get off the ticket. The first guy told him what happened and how it happened so he wasn't at all suspicious of me. So he did the trade and I got all my Items back. (And a steam game!). Soon I had an hour and 45 minute left and the last guy of the three basically told me that he didn't believe I had ever even contacted steam. He also told me that he was the most involved in the scam and he was kind of like the boss of the other two. So I made bold move and told a huge lie. I checked his inventory and found that he had 7 unusuals. I told him that he doesn't have to believe me for his inventory to be wiped and all I asked for was 2 of his 7 unusual hats(bubbling tower of hat and scorching batters helm). He asked for proof so I told him I would send them valve email asking for it. But the response time was 1-48 hours and that put him on edge. But then thirty minutes latter I pasted this into chat:
Hello, My name I understand your request for proof of your open ticket(#5782113); however, The user in question (profile #76561198021181593) can not be contacted by the support team due to our terms and conditions of service. Tickets can not be shared. So this is pretty much all the proof the support team can offer at the moment. It is because we have proof of the scam in item ID transaction logs, that we have this policy. There is usually no reason for us to contact and argue with the perpetrator, because of the hard evidence in our logs. Basically, if the user in question does not want to pay his debts; said user will be terminated, however because his items are not the ones he scammed you for, you will not receive them. -Garry
He then did the trade and gave me the unusuals as well as a steam game. I blocked them all after that. I scammed the scammers, but hey you know what they say, revenge is 4.66666 times worse Let me know if you think I went to hard on them. They were repeat scammers though. (the first one told me) I just feel like they needed a taste of their own medicine and just getting my stuff back was not a big enough taste.
tl; dr; I scammed the scammers with lies, and got some unusuals as-well as my stuff back.

First of all, you forgot to mention that I plan on turning the tower of hats into metal and giving it away through trivia. Also I am not going to delete my post on reddit. Also half of the thread on reddit think I had morally correct grounds to scam them back. I will be happy to answer any questions.

It is also important that I have never scammed before this and I have been playing tf2 for a long time. I do however feel like taking the two unusuals was too much, but at the same time I felt like each of them had to feel the same way I did after I got scammed and my items alone would not suffice. I it might be important and should be noted I talked to Mr. Rager after I got scammed.

Sander, you're going to need to elaborate a lot more and stop swearing at him, it doesn't help you at all. Give some details about your side, provide as much evidence as possible. Screenshots of chat would be helpful too if you have that.

That won't prove anything. You need to show the trade showing you never scammed him and that it was a legit trade for the huntsman and ref.

I think it's safe to assume that chat text is fake considering the font changes to my quote from the first post where he copy pasted the "response from steam", and that somehow Sander already had his friend's unusuals to give to Osteo, apparently.

Still, this report is about Osteo scamming either way, and he still clearly scammed.
