What happened? Description:

I was recently approached by a user asking to trade for some of my TF2 items, after a bit of haggling (which he was very eager to pay more and more as I kept denying his offers), he asked me if I knew my "marketgraph and the full details of my items".

He basically led me to Marketplace.tf - told me to add the items he wanted into my cart; after adding the items into my cart (and not pressing any button to prompt a trade), I received a trade offer from what was apparently a Marketplace.tf bot. The user then told me to trade my items into the bot, in order for my items to be listed and their "details" to be displayed; and that I can then just trade back for my items.

I was suspicious from the start and this just confirmed that something was going on. After a quick search up - I found that this is a method of scamming in which a user creates a bot disguising as any reputable trading website's bot - that prompts the user for a trade and once the items are traded for, the bot and the user both block you and disappear with your items. Luckily, I found out before trading my items away however.​
