    Appeal description:
I admit that I am guilty of scamming 76561198042520565 and I am writing this appeal in hopes that I can get the ban removed. I have had a change of heart since the incident, and I think of myself as a much better person today. The scam occurred in March 2014, when I was 14 years old. I had received a trade offer including a TF2 Gift Wrap from 76561198042520565.

Upon receiving the Gift Wrap, I had blocked the victim and went along with my day. I truly regret my decision of scamming and have not scammed since. The gift wrap had a value around $1.65 USD and I had forgot about the incident until recently. I can assure you that my ways have changed completely. I recently fell victim to multiple, very large scams, and it made me realize the emotional impact that scamming has on a person. This motivated me to get in contact with the victim and I gifted him around $40.00 USD in skins as an apology and to help amend the situation. It would be appreciated if I could have my ban on SteamRep removed. I acknowledge that my past actions were wrong, and I have not scammed anyone since this incident. My morals have changed drastically since those times, and I have repaid the victim with items that are valued much higher than the original gift wrap that was taken 7 years ago.

I would like to include that I appreciate all that you do here at steam-rep. I am a Tier 5 donator to SR, although that no-longer displays. I also want to mention that I will be sending the direct link of this appeal to the victim, and he is free to add anything to this appeal that he desires. Please feel free to contact me directly, and the victim if you must.

Thank you for taking the time to read this appeal. I will be keeping in touch with this thread while hoping for the best.

    Sincerely,

    Victor (Stoned Fanta).

    Everything appears in order,
Why did you wait so long to appeal and repay?

Honestly, I had forgotten about the entire situation. Since 2015, I have barely touched the steam account that committed the offense. The scam happened over 7 years ago, and although I am uncertain of my thoughts at that time, I believe my younger self must have thought of the theft as a mere $1.65. I was 14 and did not think of the repercussions of my actions. I was not much of a trader at that time either, so I did not have a complete understanding of the effects of scamming, or SteamRep itself for that matter. My morals have changed a vast amount between the incident and now. It wasn't until recently, when I fell victim to a much larger scam, that I had realized the true emotional effect of falling victim to a scam. This is one of the reasons I had apologized to the victim, while repaying him with items that valued over 20x the original item. I am truly sorry for what I had done, and I have become a much better person as I have matured. This was my only incident of scamming and I can ensure that I will never scam again.

You forgot about it because you ban avoided the tag this entire time up until your new account was recently tagged.

    Hello!

I am the account that had reported his original account years ago, he did add me and gift me items valued way over what was taken. His mistake was a very long time ago, while he was only a kid. I do forgive him. It was a dumb mistake.

Original report that got alt banned: https://forums.steamrep.com/threads...ds-emoticons-tf2-team-fortress-2-items.59101/

He even added me and sounded genially sorry for his mistake.

I ask if it's at all possible to unban him. His mistake was a very long time ago

Please let me know if any more info is needed!

I rarely acknowledged the account that had the ban. The account has been dormant and set to private for an extended period of time. The only time the account was used, was to allow friends to play csgo with me if their account had a large rank disparity (forbidding me from playing with their main account) or to game share.

I would also like to mention that I have not viewed the account in my browser in an extremely long time. The only time I see my Steamrep ban is through viewing the account in Chrome. There has been no reason for me to use the account in browser, the account was only ever used for games, or used by friends to play alongside me. The ban is also not visible when viewing the account in Steam Overlay. This is why I had forgotten about the situation. I have been actively using the new account, 76561198199457393, since 2015. It wasn’t until the Steamrep ban appeared on this account, that I was reminded of the situation.

Once I had received the ban on the account, 76561198199457393, I immediately contacted a close friend that is very good with finding specific skins and specific people, and I asked if he could help me with tracing the victim. Within an hour of noticing the Steamrep ban on my profile, I had already sent a friend request to the victim with the sole intent of apologizing and paying him back with extreme overpay. While I was waiting for Gram to accept my friend request, my friend informed me that there was a slight possibility of getting unbanned if I appealed on-site after repaying him.

To Answer the ban avoidance question directly:
I had forgotten about the situation sometime after I had made the new account. The new account (76561198199457393) was self-made with the original intent of becoming a 2nd csgo account, that had the Operation Bloodhound coin. I kept playing on the account when the operation was over, and with time, I stopped using the old account. This led the account that originally scammed into becoming dormant unless used by my friends. At the time that account was created, I still didn’t have a full understanding of Steamrep bans or the repercussions of scamming. I can promise that the account was not made with the intent of ban evasion. Sadly, I do admit that if my new account had not been tagged in the scam from 7 years ago, then I probably would not have remembered the event. The old account has sat dormant, on private, for a long time.

I would also like to mention that in a sense, I am thankful for being reminded of this event. I am happy knowing that I was able to apologize and compensate the victim. I am even more happy knowing that Gram has forgiven me for the situation. It was a very big mistake that I made when I was young. I have learned lots from this mistake and I definitely do not want to put anyone through something like this again. I am also still hoping for the best with this appeal, I would love to rebuild and sustain a positive trading reputation going forward, and I believe that the biggest help in rebuilding my reputation would be the removal of this steam rep ban.

Please, let me know if there is anything else that I could do to help further mend the situation.

Before I begin, I would like to mention I am South African, so my timezone is GMT+2.

I believe it was the early evening of August 11th that I had noticed the ban. I was uncertain of how to find the victims profile so I proceeded to contact Streqm (76561198858752059), a well known CS:GO trader, and asked him if he could help me trace the victim. Streqm got in call with me and questioned me about the situation, before sending me Gram's profile. I sent a friend request to Gram on late August 11th and he accepted my friend request around 8:30pm (GMT+2 time) August 12. Gram messaged me as soon as he added me, asking what I needed. 2 minutes after he messaged me, I asked him to join a call with me, to which he declined. I then explained my situation over text, and at 9pm, I had sent him an offer for around $40 in skins.

Evidence of this can be found in the screenshots that were linked above.

But you were aware of SR before then, not only your prior ban but before you decided to repay, attempted a donation to SR, how did that not remind you of your prior incident? It does not appear your priorities were ever lined up.

You are correct. I was aware of SR prior to my repayment.

I learned about the value of SR in April of 2021, and I became a Tier 5 donator to the site out of appreciation for all you do. I made my $100 donation on June 23rd. I donated prior to receiving the SR ban on my main profile. The ban showed up on my main account on August 11th. I did not remember the SR ban on my old profile when I had made my donation, the donation was done out of appreciation. I had forgotten about the SR ban on the old account years ago. The donation was not related to the ban in any way possible.

I would like to mention that I had pretty much forgotten about the old account itself, it was used by friends for games occasionally. It has been years since I have opened the account in Google Chrome (which would've reminded me of the ban). There isn't even a mobile authenticator or an active email attached to that steam account. The account is very rarely used, it has sat on private for an extremely long time.

Making a donation to SR did not remind me of the previous ban. I hadn't checked to see if that account was steamrep banned in the time that I've understood what SteamRep truly was. I can promise you that I would have acted sooner, had I remembered the original account was SR banned. I only remembered the original SR ban when it was linked to my main account.

Once the SR ban was linked, I looked at the original report from 2014 and read that report. Reading the original report is what reminded me of the situation. I then immediately contacted Streqm (76561198858752059), and asked him to help me trace the victim. I had repayed the victim within 2 days of seeing the SR ban on my stonedfanta account.

I am truly sorry about the situation that happened when I was 14. I would like to reiterate that I am a very changed man, and I have been working hard at building an online trading reputation this past year. It was a stupid mistake that I had made when I was a kid. This is the only time I have performed an online theft in my life. I have been trying my best to mend this incident. Please, feel free to let me know if there is anything more I can do to help with this situation.

After a review and consultation with other staff, I am declining to consider the appeal for lying by omission about alts/related accounts and secondly, no clear CoH despite that being the plea.

    Regards.
