... unfortunately I don't have any screen shots. This was reported to me, and I found evidence in the server logs. I realize that may not be sufficient, but I figure it's worth a try.

Description:
These two alleged scammers (currently Steam friends) showed up on one of the servers I run and ran what appear to be fake raffles (although not very profitable). The first raffle, "The Doctor" and "clonewars00" entered, and "clonewars00" (the friend of the raffler) won. The second raffle, clonewars00 had changed his name to "super fart" and entered again, and "@ MetalSlug @" also entered... then the raffler (at the time known as "Ultra Killua") left the server. Neither he nor "super fart" had been on the server prior to that day, and neither have been on since.

I have attached a srcds server log beginning with "Ultra Killua" joining and ending with him leaving. I have also extracted what I believe is the relevant text and included it below:

Just to clarify, "Ultra Killua" is "{ƒqD£z£R0™}Z∑®Ø". "clonewars00" and "super fart" are the same person. This is apparent from the zipped log file (which includes Steam IDs), but not from the extracted text.

Do you guys run a stats system (hlx or gameme) that records chat logs?

All you have at the moment are 2 blocks of text, no screenshots, videos, or provable evidence.

The logs you provided are extremely long and confusing. The best thing you could have done would be recording a demo or video.

I agree--what I have would be trivial to fake, but it is all that I have. I wasn't on the server at the time, so I couldn't take any screen shots. (If I had been online, I probably would have intervened.) After I submitted this report, I also posted to our servers' forums explaining that screen shots would greatly help in reporting scams.

What can I do as a server owner to gather the necessary information? You mentioned chat logs from hlx/gameme. Are they trusted for this sort of thing? It seems like it would just be the same information I've provided, but with different presentation.

I am interested in your recommendations.

Well gameme / hlx chatlogs have the player's ID next to everything typed, so if you click the name you can have the profile of the poster.

If it's just an issue of readability, I can format it differently. I was just doing my best to follow the prescribed format, which requires an inline plain-text log marked as code.

Still isn't enough honestly. We'd need inventory histories, screenshot proof, admin testimonies, etc... Sorry, it's really hard to prove this with just logs, of which can easily be faked.
