I took a break from TF2 for like 3 months. I came back and decided to do some lovely tf2wh shopping to see what new items I could get for my cute TF2 characters. I then find out about about all of this steam rep stuff all due to the fact that some guy whose page I left a comment, +repping," was scamming people. I do not and have not ever scammed in TF2. Every item I own is either a drop, traded with tf2wh bots, traded with legitimate people, or purchased from the Mann Co. store.

This has been a wonderful "welcome back!" to TF2..

I have since deleted my first comment from his page so as to show where I stand on scamming. I have also left him a new comment for anyone who visits his page (http://steamcommunity.com/id/QuasiQuasi/).

I have set my backpack to public. Please let me know if it is still showing up as private. I also feel sorry for anyone who got scammed, however their issues with a scammer should not have managed to "tarnish" my steam rep. That one guy who ruined my morning!

As this is a holiday weekend in the United States, I understand if this process takes a little bit of time. I, myself, will try to be available on Steam to discuss further, if needed.

    Thank you for time.

Is there any way to get someone to view this and get things started? I am now unable to play on one of my favorite servers due to being labelled a "scammer" (which is super fun, as I'm sure you can wrap your head around). I'd rather this get settled and not have to deal with this 6 months from now.

Hi i am not an admin but wanted to state, they are dealing with a backlog of appeals at this moment and to give you a rough idea of how long it would take please read this . it should help a little.
from what I've seen in my opinion it can take anywhere from 2-4 months with the backlog and how they are delt which is in a created timeline (things made in July-August are being delt with about now)

I'm sorry its not the best news to hear as you are not being able to go on your favorite servers and I hope this gets resolved soon for you.

I appreciate the information! It is much easier to deal with a situation such as this when there is a possible time frame. But damn, was hoping to get this solved by Christmas since I'm weird and wanted to get myself a tf2 item on tf2wh as a present (my birthday was couple of days after my original post :( )

I should actually give some back story as to how I know the guy who did the actual scamming. I played on a highlander team with him and he asked a few of us on the team to give him +rep if we had traded with him. I thought that he would follow through with his integrity and it is unfortunate that he did not. I was under the impression that he was going to use our +rep in a positive way to build more rep, not as a way to trick others into being scammed.

Hopefully, I have shown that I do not agree with scamming and that I wish to distance myself from those who have used my word to harm others. Though I did post on his profile page, +repping (which has been replaced with a message on how I feel about scamming), I did it under the pretense that he would be responsible and honorable in his actions.

Not an admin but in most appeals like these the admin may ask for a proof of you trading with him, so take a picture of your inventory history and post it here as evidence you gave rep from a trade. If you gave rep because he ask you to or he paid you something, well it won't be pretty. Good Luck!

It sounds like I am probably SOL, then :(
I honestly do not know if I've ever traded with him. I, also, do not know if it is possible to check my inventory history, since I have had my backpack private for months and months (funnily enough because I kept getting hounded for my earbuds). The +rep was not because of a specific instance of trading with him. It was an in-good-faith maneuver that has gone terribly wrong for me. It is unfortunate for myself to have no evidence, but honestly this was so long ago. I +repped a guy who I thought would trade honorably. He attempted (succeeded?) at scamming and now I have a scammer tag. I buy games, some TF2 items here and there, and have never scammed.

I thought I would do a few month bump. I ended up doing some research and found out that the Keith Stone guy that I had +repped wasn't even the guy's main account. It was just his alt account. http://steamcommunity.com/id/050996/ is his real account. I know I probably cannot request to speak with an admin, but heck I can be of some help! This is done in both repent and in spite hahaha. The alt is http://steamcommunity.com/id/QuasiQuasi/

In regards to this whole +repping thing, I do want to state that I understand why you are against it and what problems it causes. I did not want to trick anyone into trading with a scammer and I will be much smarter about who I associate myself with in the trading world. Perhaps out of good faith I can have my tag removed as I never plan on leaving rep on anyone's page and really would just like to go back to using the tf2 warehouse. I miss the cute pickle bots and stuff

As per our discussion in chat, I really do not think your intention was to give this guy credibility nor do I see you as a trader trying to take advantage of this. Therefore as tagging admin I am reversing your tag and gently reminding you to please be more careful in the future. :)
