Hello admins, a couple of months back I received a SP caution for "trying" to get items for Team Fortress 2 off of a friend. I told him that I would drop his valuable (non trade able) items (in a non steam game called "Runescape") if he did not give me some Team Fortress 2 items.
At the time I hadn't much in Team Fortress 2 so I tried to play a joke on a friend who was very rich in terms of items, I was very jealous of him and when he asked me to train some skills for him in "Runescape" I was bewildered and in awe at the bank he had in "Runescape" so I jumped at the chance to make a joke with him.
I had traded with him a few times in the past so we were on good terms.
I had no intention of dropping his items as I believe I showed as I had access to his bank for a good few minutes he also had 60 million coins (60,000,000) which I could have easily taken from his bank and given to one of my "Runescape" accounts.

Realising that I was wrong and the joke had gone a bit too far , I purposely went to change the password of the "Runescape" account that he had given me to train (Knowing that he would receive an email and would be able to "lock" his account).
I asked him was he able to lock his account because of the email he received and although he did not answer me I knew that this was how he did it.

A few minutes after the account was locked, (Foolishly) I carried on with the joke (wanting to teach him a lesson of how easily his account's valuables could have been used against him) but in the heat of the conversation he said he would report me and then he blocked me. I did not hear from him for the rest of the night.

A few day later he unblocked me to tell me that he had failed to mark me as a "scammer" on source rep, but had succeeded in getting me marked with a "SR Caution" at the time I didn't know what this was or how it affected me, so I did not pay much attention to it.

Within 30 seconds of unblocking me, I was blocked again. I had wanted to apologise and tell him the whole thing was just a misunderstanding but I had no way of contacting him after that.

As time went on I had forgotten about my caution and it was only until a few days ago when I tried to purchase items off a seller and was refused because of my reputation on this site. I have tried to contact the person who I "scammed" but either he has not accepted my friend request or he has still got me blocked.

I would really like to have my caution removed because it only hit me a few days ago how it affects me.

I would also like to state that there was no malice or foul play intended with my friend, I simply wanted to have a joke with him and teach him the dangers of what he was doing.
Also I think it is clear I am NOT a "scammer" as I have not been reported for scamming ever in the time before and after the incident occurred.

I was simply a joke between two "Friends" and has escalated into this.

I would like to become a trader and I cannot do so while I am marked with this reputation.

Could you please review my case and hopefully my "SR Caution" will be removed.

    Thank you,
    Sukiyo.

The chat does not read remotely like a joke between 'friends.'
him: 'hmm? why [are you threatening to drop all my items?'
    you: 'i'm a prick'

    Did you receive the items?

As I said I wanted to show him how easily he could be taken advantage of if he used such methods to train his skills in "Runescape" (Giving people his account info).

I did not receive any items and had no intention to.

I am going to be handling this appeal. I will be contacting the other party that is involved and interviewing him. As your explanation is lengthy and in depth, I will not need to contact you.

    Please wait for my decision.

I know you admins are busy and have a lot of appeals to go through each day, but I am just wondering have you reached a decision yet or are you close to making one?

Wait for him to respond but in my opinion (own investigation):
    Facts:
You played a joke on your friend.
You threatened intentionally or not to drop his items.
You got carried away and continued without considering the consequences.
You attempted to teach him how his wealth could be turned against him.
You demanded tf2 items or you would drop his items.

    Questions:
Are you on good terms with him now?
Will you be able to make him post on this appeal?
How did you get a caution tag for a non-steam game?

    Testimony so far:
I believe you played a harmless joke but your friend took it seriously and therefore until i talk to your friend about it and for "his" side of the story. I cannot recommend a punishment upon you but if all goes well you may lose your tag.

    To answer Chocolate's questions:
He removed me because he misunderstood, I think he blocked me.
That kind of answers question 2.
I think it was because I used steam chat is why I got caution mark.

Any update on this?, it been nearly 7 months now.

It's been far too long - ask an active admin (i.e. not me) to remove your caution. You can point them to this post if they have any questions.
