Well theoretically Steam Wallet funds could be transferred by exchanging a code from a Steam card bought at a retail store, or using the Steam Market (beta) (through a semi complicated procedure). So I'm not sure its a definitive case as it could be. It is up to the admins to make the call.

Then again, if it was the case, he wouldn't quickly delete me off list on a first notice of SteamRep but explain the procedure, isn't that right? I thought about the Steam Market thing later, but seeing how now the steam wallet scammers are on the rise and most websites have warnings 'bout it...

The items he selected were also simply the most expensive items of all I have (basically it's all that I have), not something he particularly wanted.

Well, as of the SteamRep announcement I'm sure he will get marked.

Playing devils advocate, it could be argued that miscommunication and a premature defriend could have occurred rather than a scam attempt. If perhaps the chat had gone on and captured use of the chat command or false representation of steam wallet fund transfers it would be a stronger case. I'm not saying thats what happened here, and at an initial glance it appears to be fishy (I would tend to agree with you Melkor), but as stated it is up to an admin to make the call.
