    Application:

Please tell us about yourself (job, school, hobbies, etc)
Job: Technical Service Representative for almost 2 years( 2 years on August 15th, 2018)
My job is to primarily assist in identifying an individuals cause for encountering an error message on the companies website or to assist in navigating the individual around the site while answering questions the individual might have when calling the company. While working this job, I have had wonderful encounters with those that call in for assistance, and some that are not. Whether the encounter is a positive or negative one, my job remains the same and so does my attitude.

Hobbies: As I am sure you can see by my main account's profile, I am quite fond of coding websites and my own personal OS applications. I maintain my own website that I have coded myself for 2-3 years in which the primary function is to manage Staff, applications, and more for TF2SwapShop. I also coded an application to be used with the website to record our administrators use of commands as well.

School: Graduated college with an Associates in Computer Information Systems and currently am saving up money for a bachelors degree.

Why do you want to be a SteamRep moderator, and what makes you feel you're a good candidate?
I would like to be a moderator at SteamRep because I feel I could do more for the Team Fortress 2 community by putting more of my free time to better use.

I feel that I would be an ideal candidate for the moderator position at SteamRep because the social interaction skills I have gained and learned from not only my job, but also managing a community for 5+ years would allow me to quickly adapt and handle the tasks given/presented to me.

    Past administrative experience:
    TF2SwapShop
    Time Active: 5+ Years
I am one of the members in the communities Head Administration team.
My duties include but are not limited to the following:
    1. Supervising and management of current staff members.
    2. Ensuring applications are handled properly and according to the communities established guidelines.
    3. Ban Appeals and requests made by the community
    4. + More

I also custom code a website and application for SwapShop by myself. Presently and for the past 2-3 Years.

Have you ever been banned from another community? If so, what happened?
Technically, yes. I do run my own community that has a Sourcebans, however with the bans contained in its database pertaining to me or any of my accounts, they were created solely for testing my code only. Situations did occur within the SS community that did result in a server ban and a forum ban being placed on me. While a rather lengthy story it would be, the ban has since been/were removed by the owner. If SR staff would like to hear the in-depth story regarding it, by all means, grab some popcorn and friend me.

    Hello Hades.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Are you still interesting in pursuing this application?

Before I put your application under review, I have a few questions for you:
    1. Why is your profile private? In discouraging traders from dealing with private profiles, we generally expect our staff and affiliated community staff to keep their profile public.
    2. In the past, it looks like you applied twice to our Friend Community program, both times redacting your application, and most recently stating "I cannot support a community that does not offer a reasonable timeline for player resolutions". Could you explain the change of heart, leading you to now apply as a moderator here?
    3. Assuming you still run the community TF2SwapShop, do you use our API on said website?

    All great questions.

    1. I made my profile private as I was getting asked questions about my inventory quite often. If I recall right my profile setting should be set to where only my steam friends have the ability to see my profile. I figured having that setting would cut down on potential scammers and limit my risk to a unfavorable trade outcome.

    2. We applied twice to become a partner community but unfortunately we did as you say, cancel both times. Should my memory serve correct, it was by a higher up than myself giving the order to discontinue the application for both attempts. One by Pixels and the second attempted was discontinued by the owner of TF2SS, Death. I still would have liked to have had an application going though. As for your question about a change of heart, an individual who follows the orders given to him/her does not always have to agree to them. I am applying for the position of moderator in your community because I feel I could make a positive impact. The owner Death stated he didn’t have much faith in the SteamRep system itself. I do not agree with such words as I only have the viewpoint from the eyes of the TF2SS community. Getting to know more information about it and getting to be involved in the process could lead to more positive interactions and help others understand. I also believe it could lead to less misunderstandings.

    3. I did recently retire from my position as a Head Administrator at TF2SwapShop. My primary role in the community now is to offer my advice as needed should a Head administrator, staff member, or player come to me with questions. I also continue to support the website I created for the community as well as other coding tasks that are asked of my or needed. Before my retirement, the Steam web API was not in use as far as I know. As far as the servers go, I’d imagine the server plugin is still in effect.

Please let me know if I need to clarify or if you have further questions.

    Thank you,

    Hades

    1. Please make your profile public. I can understand if you retired from trading, and are sick of friend requests from scammers following inventory trackers, but we can't review your application if your profile is private. Furthermore, with rare exceptions, all of our staff and affiliates are expected to lead by example with public profiles and inventories of their own - at least on any account they trade or interact with the community from. Will you be able to meet that expectation?
    2. You were "head administrator" and also developer, and you're the one who made the comment. Using the pronoun I and never we, from this account. How was that someone else?
    3. I was asking about the SteamRep API, not the Steam web API - the one which tells you whether or not someone is marked in our database. Does your community not ban or label marked scammers on your website?

First Application attempt was canceled by Pixels( http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561197987439619 ), A higher up Head Administrator at the time.

    Second Application: https://forums.steamrep.com/threads/tf2swapshop-community-application.112195/
    Canceled By: Death ( http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561197964150063 )
The post with the quote you are referring too was made by TF2SwapShop's owner: Death( http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561197964150063 ). See Post Number: 14 in the second application.
    This is not my account.

I did at one point attempt to redesign the forums completely with a forum based off of wordpress, however that idea has yet to be completed. Before my retirement I myself was informed that another coder for the community was making a new website for TF2SS. I am unsure if it is only a trading website, forum, or both. I have since given up on the forum redesign that I was working on. It did not have the Steam Web API as being part of it. The reason was I was not fully aware of it's existince. I had heard of it before but had not looked into it. Thje current forums for TF2SwapShop use SMF. I do not know if you Web API would be compatible with it.

The site I was referring to is an admin only access website so that TF2SS Head administration and staff can view command usage, active staff, etc... as described in my original post for this thread.
I included the server API information to prevent you from possibly having to answer such questions. To my knowledge, the TF2SwapShop forums does not use the Steam Web API on it's. I do not know if there is a plan to include it in the future.

As per Number 1. to make my profile public, I have done so.

Please let me know if there is anything else.

    Thank you,

    Hades

Oops, I'm so sorry. I mixed you up with the other admin in your application and then thought you were making excuses for past unprofessional conduct. My bad. Thanks for the rest of your answers.

So it sounds like you simply weren't familiar or comfortable enough with your CMS to implement our API.

Are you still anticipating 12 hours per week of availability?

Thank you very much for applying to be a Steamrep moderator, and I apologize for the delay in processing your application. Unfortunately, we have decided to decline your application at this time. Feel free to reapply next year if you are still interested, and we would be happy to reconsider your application.
