Story: The item he scammed off me was an Unusual Modest Pile of Hat with Harvest Moon effect.
I was playing some KOTH about 2 days ago and someone asked to trade me, I don't remember what the offer was, although he was talking to me and he was saying that he wanted to help me because he said I had a nice hat and that he loved trading, he said as long as I gave him the hat long enough that he could make a trade on TF2 Outpost and then he could give it back to me right away, he asked if he could have a bud once i sol it an i figured that was his motive. He tried to convince me for about 2 hours and he said his friend(i put him as "Other Scammer" above" he had helped could show me that he just wanted to help me and told me the story of how he had stopped him from being scammed. He even said he would give me his favorite unusual hat to me and that it wasn't worth much but it held sentimental value, he decided that he couldn't convince me so he said he would ask his friend if he could have his unusual hat to give to me in the meantime which i saw in his inventory earlier. His friend agreed and then told me I had better give it back when I supposively get my hat back. The scammer had given me the link to his TF2op trade and it said it was for a friend. I played with them and they said they were so happy they were taking pictures of eachother wearing my hat. I asked him to give the hat back in chat and he didn;t respond. He finally responded and said Sorry! you must have been so worried lol! or something along those lines. I had told him I had a very high c/o and he asked me who it was, without thinking i told him. He went into chat with him and i kept asking for my hat back but he said he was too busy with the giver of my c/o. He said he wanted to keep it for the night so he could rack up some trades overnight and i finally agreed. I tried t get my hat back when i woke up but after i messaged him a couple times, he didn't respond and it said he went offline after it said he was in a game. Here I am today and i checked his TF2op trade and he had removed that it was for a friend and it had my c/o which said "Retracted". At this point I realized that i had been scammed, avoiding me and then saying it was for himself.

I offered to try to sell the harvest moon modest pile of hats for my inexperience trader friend* (Cam). There was some mix-ups and two scammers made me trade the hat back to an alternate account they said was owned by my inexperienced trader friend* (Cam).
1. A person added me claiming to be cam's friend* saying cam wanted his unusual back and he said that cam was irritated and to add his alt account which he was currently on.
2. I added him and i traded him the hat which we discussed
3. An hour later cam messaged me asking for his hat and we found out i got scammed

Im begging you steam for the sake of my friend please i would most utterly appreciate if you could replace my friend's hat, i was scammed by very experienced scammers and I really need assistance and help Valve.

Just confirming, the one who is being accused here (Genome Ghost) hasn't done anything wrong, he offered to help the original owner of the unusual with selling the unusual. The real scammer is a new account that changed name, impersonated the original owner, and then wanted the hat back. Still working on more details...I'll keep you up to date.

I just might have to retract that statement. Got this from the "scammers" (the account where the hat was last seen) only friend...which is a bit suspicious...still working on it

[EDIT] Just noticed that the profile is private but I took a screenshot of it earlier...so I'll just add it here aswell

Just noticed one more thing, I forgot to add who provided the screenshot of the chat. It's the same guy who is shown in the screenshot above (Modest01.jpg), he added the victim to help.
