Hi,

I own automated trading bots, such as those at scrap.tf. Bots have inventories of items that they buy and sell at a given price. The bot makes a tiny profit after each item is sold. This bot does not use steam marketplace, and is within the rules of steam.

One of my bots was attacked this morning. The user found an exploit that allowed him to steal hundreds of items from it, worth more than $300. He did this using multiple accounts, and he even changed his name while doing so. I have tracked his main account by looking at my program's logs. He is now trying to sell those items for TF2 keys on tf2outpost (see http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17242600 and http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17242553), and I am assuming he will sell those keys for money.

The act is evident if you look at the inventory history of my account.

He first adds my bot at 2014-01-14 06:06:24, and then tries a bunch of different commands, and tries to figure out a way to hack the bot. He does this for about 1 hour, trading my bot non-stop, trying out commands. And then he unfriends my bot at 2014-01-14 07:07:28, only to add it back again at 2014-01-14 07:19:50. He finally figures it out at 2014-01-14 07:34:04, and starts adding his different accounts. All times are US Eastern time.

At 07:35:36 , Banken (STEAM_0:1:76347162) adds the bot.
At 07:42:13 , Banken3 (STEAM_0:1:76359626) adds the bot.
At 07:48:49 , Mike Hunt (STEAM_0:0:76342785) adds the bot.
At 07:57:13:, Ebenezerrr (STEAM_0:0:76326870) adds the bot.
At 08:02:07 , Banken6 (STEAM_0:0:76343496) adds the bot.
At 08:09:50 , Not a spy (STEAM_0:1:76359935) adds the bot.
At 08:15:29 , Banken8 (STEAM_0:0:76349433) adds the bot.

The fact that he abuses a programming mistake so professionally, and so ambitiously, makes me believe he has committed similar crimes in the past as well. I believe he must be punished severely for his actions.

I have already filed a steam support ticket about this.

I also found his another account from his clan, (already marked as scammer, with scammer alts):

After negotiations, the user has decided to give me back whatever he could. I am still at a loss, but I have decided to forgive the user because of his final decision. He has also promised not to do anything similar, after I have explained the repercussions of his actions to him. Please close this thread and leave the user untouched.

Hello, do you have any sort of evidence to back yourself up?

Just having inventory history doesn't show anything.

Hi, I don't know what kind of other evidence I could have provided. But as I said, the user apologized and gave back as much as he could, and promised not to do something like this again. I can provide the evidence of receiving these items back if you need to see that. Thank you for your time.
