    Appeal description:
    Hi,

    10 years ago me and my friend system_nick1 were young and admittedly did a shady trade-related thing in Team Fortress 2. We've baited some people to sell us their hats for 1/10 of their price (those were cheapest $5 hats). Then we used those hats in a Christmas giveaway on our favorite server.
    One dude got really pissed and reported us everywhere he could which resulted in us getting a ban on Steam and losing all our expensive inventories.
    We gained nothing from it and lost everything in the end and he received his hat back from Steam support.
    Then we were banned on sites like tf2items.com and tf2tp as well.

    We took a long break from the game and now It has been 10 years, but we are apparently still banned on Steamrep even though I don't believe that the ban was initially indefinite.

    Our accounts are clean, and we never did any shady stuff since then. We just want to play the game again without being kicked from community servers.​

    SOP community bans have always been permanent. Your "friend" will also have to appeal his own tag.

    After a review, the original evidence is still intact and the offense was indeed a glimmer drop scam, NOT sharking as you implied in your original posting and something that SOP did NOT issue any banned tags for. Saying that, the appeal will be handled under SOPs legacy tag policy.

    Would you like to amend or update your appeal? If not, appeal will be concluded by the end of the week.

    I don't really know the scam terminology, sorry. We did something similar, yes and I am not denying it. I have no idea what tags SOP issue or even what SOP is to be frank.

    After a review since the evidence is still intact and with input from other appeals staff, I am converting your tag from a SOP to an SR tag and you will be free to submit an appeal for the SR tag. Make no mistake, I could have denied it within my/SOPs discretion/authority but I was split on honoring it so this was the best option/outcome for you. I will recuse myself from the appeal after that since I converted the tag over.
