Appeal description:

I am neXu, and this is my case.

I have a friend who I know in real life, his steam name is Buying Pure. His avatar is a blue snake. Basically, he's been scamming people for a long time. He was coming over to my house for the day, so we could play tf2 together and duel. He has a mac pro with retina display. I also have a mac, but it is old. We agreed to play on each others laptops, because I wanted to see what it was like playing with such high fps and graphics (awesome!)

Basically, when it was time to trade back he hid my laptop from me. When I got it from him I saw him in the middle of a trade with someone. To my growing horror, I read the trade chat box. I saw how he offered someone 1000 dollars for their unusual item.

After this I asked him why he did it, was mad at him, and he went home...

Never did I imagine that he would actually cause me harm. A week later when I'm using outpost to sell my items, to my surprise, I see a header over the page. It says I am banned. It provides me with a link, and to my fascination and disappointment I learn that this ban was, in fact, caused by what my friend did that day. I read the reddit description of the scam, by the guy who my friend offered a thousand paypal dollars to (if he went first, hence the scam).

That's my story. I don't think anyone could imagine the effect of this. My friend and I don't even talk to each other any more. When I found out about this I called him, linked him to the website. He said "sorry" and that was it. Now the account that I'd built so much on and got so many friends on was ruined...

You have no idea how much Steam in general is ruined for me. I cannot go on most trade servers. 80% of people won't trade with me.

No offense is meant, but couldn't you have looked more carefully into this BEFORE swinging the ban hammer? Perhaps you have some way of checking trade history, and you could see that I gave many of my steam friends (who I don't even know in real life) items for free. You could have emailed me or done something. I understand that many people scam and it's important to catch them. But as long as there's one innocent person out there who you falsely ban, you can't keep doing that.

I've actually told many people on steam of my predicament. I started a discussion on how my friend ruined my Steam life. Some people insult me, harass me (by commenting on my profile about how I'm lying and such). Some people actually believe me. But all those people have said the same thing to me:

"You shouldn't have let him use your stuff"

Yes, they're completely right. But consider the situation. We were simply using each other's laptops, he said he didn't mind the worse graphics of mine. He was mainly just playing with my younger brother on a different server (he left the duel server after about 2 rounds). We were using our laptops for about an hour and a half. And in that time he got me where I am now.

Look, I don't know exactly what you can do, or how you can fix the ban. Please try to remove the traces of the ban as much as possible, because I didn't do anything to scam anyone, and when you do this to someone's account you should take full responsibility and clean up the mess.

Please unban me as soon as possible

PS: I just thought of how this will sound. How on earth will anyone know whether that is true or not? Anyone could just say that someone else did it. How can you believe what I say is true?
