Appeal description:

This is my third attempt at an appeal, after my first one from about 4 years ago was denied for not replying to an admin who tried to get in touch with me in time, my second from 3 years ago was archived because I had not realised my first appeal being denied meant I couldn't appeal again, but now over the last week I have had an appeal review accepted that has allowed me to appeal again. This scam attempt is genuinely one of the most embarrassing and shameful things I have ever done, and very much up there as one of the most stupid. It was a singular attempt at a scam from 6 years ago when I was genuinely 12 years old and in a rough period of time. This is of course not an excuse, and I take full responsibility for my actions, but this was not something I had done before, have ever done since, or will ever do again. Before my first appeal, I tried to make amends with the victim by contacting them on steam, but understandably found myself blocked, and decided that if they had blocked me they would not want me to contact them, so I didn't make any further efforts. My scam was also not successful, so there are no items that needed/need to be returned. As is mentioned in my original post, this attempt came at least partially as a result of the fact I had lost the knife I had at the time gambling, and some personal issues I was having. I hope that you can understand the state of mind of an upset 12 year old who just lost something, and how it led me to make a stupid decision to try and get it back. I think it is evident from the attempt itself that this was not part of some master plan, or premeditated in any way, considering the fact I tried to hide a knife with a purple border around it amongst trading cards (I attached the original picture that was sent as proof for reference). I reiterate that none of this is an excuse in the slightest, but I just want to make it clear that I am by no means a criminal mastermind or any sort of danger to the trading community. I have no desire to get back into the trading scene, apart from the possibility of buying myself playing skins in the future if I was to get back into CS, I just want to move on from this. It's one of the dumbest things I have ever done, and I will continue to pay for it at the very least having to remember what I did and what it says about my character, I would just prefer it wasn't on the internet sticking out like a sore thumb every time someone looks at my steam account. Either way, I would like to thank the admins of this forum because they have been very helpful in the past week or two in my attempts to appeal again, and also of course for calling me out on my mistake.​

Yes, I did. At least as far as I can remember now, and also there are no other reports and when I’ve checked my trade history from that time before there haven’t been any others.

I don’t remember, but like I said I was assuming it was only one for a while. I did just look back at my original post and it says 2 or 3 so my assumption was wrong though, and I must have missed that when I was looking back over it to make this one, that’s my mistake. I also tried to look back at trade logs just now to see if I could confirm an actual number, but it doesn’t show trade offers any more only actual trades, so I can’t.

I am sorry about that, I didn’t intentionally lie about it but I understand you can’t be certain of that.

Like I say in my post, I don’t actually have any interest in rejoining the trading community - I still do enjoy the community of the game CS, and the skins economy is interesting, but the trading side of it has lost its appeal to me. It was only really a phase I went through, and it’s not really even necessary to trade any more. I mentioned the possibility of buying playing skins, but to do that I would just use a website to buy them, meaning I wouldn’t even have to interact with another person let alone there be any risk of a scam. I also of course have grown massively as a person, and would not even consider scamming a person any more. I again know that you can’t be certain of that, but considering I was 12 when this happened and I am now 18, I hope you can believe that there has been a lot of personal development for me since then. I have very much learned from my lesson from this steam rep ban, for multiple reasons. My older brother also plays cs and a while ago found out about this ban, and even told my father about it, and while neither of them said much/ did much, or even held it against me, it gave me an immense feeling of shame that would not be worth any amount of money. I also hope that by the way I’ve handled this over the years through my appeals and interactions with admins it is evident that I have always fully accepted responsibility for this and never blamed anyone but myself. Another point I sort of made in my appeal is that the scam itself was very, very stupid in terms of its simplicity. There was no premeditation or long term play that would suggest that it was anything other than a stupid snap decision. Also, the fact it is so simple hopefully demonstrates the fact that I wouldn’t even know how to go about a successful scam even if I wanted to, considering the fact the only idea I came up with didn’t even work at the time, and in the 6 years since the CS community has become hugely more intelligent and more aware of scams.

Above all else though, I am a much better person now than I used to be, and would never even consider it again. I am painfully aware of how selfish I was when I was younger, with much more evidence than just this. I have made a conscious, genuine effort over a long period of time to be better, which I hope you can believe.
