I've been sitting here squinting at the CSGO Lounge for about the past hour and a half, and I have to say that I'm not anywhere close to comfortable trying to sell my skins for USD there. All I'm getting are "you send first or no deals" or "I'll totally send you steam wallet cash codes" (which if I wanted anyway then I'd just sell through them!)

    So I have several questions:

    1. Are there any known/legit traders out there who actually buy skins and resale?
    2. Are steamrep middlemen able to be trusted with a $100+ skin?
    3. Is hoping to get cash for an item completely unrealistic?

I'm debating on just selling the darn things on Steam then buying games for friends in exchange for paypal funds, but I sorta need the money for bills. The last thing I need is to be scammed out of my last resort. xD

Hello mate. I'm not a moderator but i trade several items thru paypal. So here are my answers:
1: Several, you just have to find them. Check there Rep thread, time played, backpack , pending reports on SteamRep , Rep.tf. IF the user has a huge rep(profile rep means nothing), some time played ,a high value backpack, no pending reports and rep.tf clean. The change of him scamming you is small. There's always some risk when your trading for real money, anyone can go rogue.

2: Just to correct you SteamRep has no MM, partner communities have them. You can use it if your not comfortable doing it alone. They usually move much more that 100usd a day. So in my view you can trust them.

3: No. Several people make some money with TF2/dota/CS:GO. Just be careful.

My notes: Dont trade for steam codes(probably your going to be scammed). Make your rules, if you dont have any paypal rep you probably have to go first but it's your decision.
These are short answers but i hope they help you.

Hey, thanks a bunch for responding to my thread. I'm eyeing people that are making me offers and already seeing through fake profile rep and the like.

I'll keep an eye out, I just need to not rush it and find the right buyer. I'm already wanting to sell for less than the value, so it shouldn't be too difficult once I find someone who's legit.

    Thanks again!

    1. I'm not especially active in the cs:go/paypal trading scene, but I know there are active and honest traders who buy cs:go items with paypal, and others who sell them.

    2. Like Tio José said, SteamRep doesn't have any middlemen as that is up to the partner community. To correct him, they often move much more than $100 in a single trade. I would probably trust one, even though I've never used them, but you should be aware using a middleman does not protect against a chargeback scam. They will resolve the "who goes first" dispute when neither party can trust the other, but a chargeback can happen after the fact. Also, the middleman will probably warn you and decline their services if they think the other trader is going to charge back.

    3. Yes, so long as you're patient and careful. If you get rushed into a trade that seems too good to be true, then the money will vanish as quickly as it appeared. Also, you should not be any less careful, but be aware if you have little to no reputation, you will likely have to go first.

Further to what Tio José said, SteamRep does not support or recommend trading for codes of any kind. We do not accept reports for them because they're impossible to track.

Finally, and this last point is important, do not trust profile reputation comments. They mean absolutely nothing in determining whether you can trust someone. I highly recommend you read this over: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/what-constitutes-reputation.12391

    1. Nope (From different admins I've been told.) You have to be patient and really look at someone's profile 'n background before you engage in trades with them. I know of a few but in order for you to get their attention you'll have to make sensible offers. Some you might not like!

    3. Short term, yes, long term, no. Patience and persistence, see what other deals they have done if they own credible reputation threads. Game hours, activity with communities, get to know the person a bit more just by observing them and seeing what they do. How likely is someone that's known in a comm going to disappear should they decide to steal an item?

Here's some guides that are my favorites so far, bear in mind that information can and will change as companies, such as PayPal, adapt new abilities. Most are oriented towards TF2/D2, but they apply just the same in terms of GO...or any cash/currency/valuable paper transactions. Some might just be flat out old, but where else to learn with history!

Some new ones I found off one of Reddit's derps.
