    1. Please list the URL/IP of each server in your community that runs the SteamRep plugin and how many days each has been running it.
All of our trade servers run the Steamrep checker plugin:
    173.208.183.34.27015 -- since 3/20/2013
    173.208.183.35:27015 -- since 3/20/2013
    173.208.183.36:27015 -- since 12/23/2012
    173.208.183.38:27016 -- since 12/23/2012

The reason for the short runtime in two of the servers is due to a misconfiguration on my part, which was only recently discovered. This caused the plugin to not actually be running.

All of our servers, including non-trade servers, can be found on our website, or group page.

    2. Have you made any modifications or changes to the SteamRep plugin? If so, please list.
I have made no changes to the Steamrep plugin. The default settings suit the needs of the group perfectly.

    3. Please list the URL of your community's Steam group.
    http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TeamGHS

    4. Please list the URL of your admins Steam group.
    http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GHSAG

    5. Please list ALL admins (not in the above group) and/or moderators of your community below with links to their SteamRep profile (e.g. HelenAngel - http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561197977521239)
All of our admins are required to be in the above group. No extra profiles are available.

    6. What are your community's policies on scamming & scamming-related activities?
GHS does not tolerate scamming of any kind, and we do what we can to facilitate legitimate trading and/or trade related activities. Any players caught scamming are warned to return the item, and appropriate steps are taken (ban, report, etc)

Because spycrabs or other trade related "bets" are used often to scam items, we try to maintain a policy that you use a trusted or admin middleman, or that you find one through reputable means.

We also discourage trading for items not trade-able through steam (minecraft accounts, itunes cards, xbox live, etc).

Our policies, in general, forbid scamming and warn players to be careful when trading non-steam based items. Any players caught scamming are immediately dealt with. Scamming has a zero-tolerance policy at GHS.

    7. Why does your community wish to be affiliated with SteamRep?
    First, a little background:
Anyone who has been affiliated with Steamrep for some time, knows that some older GHS members were on poor standing with Steamrep. Due to past occurrences, many older members had distaste for Steamrep and, for a while, GHS refused to support the Steamrep community.

However, recent occurrences involving Steamrep have really changed the minds of these disgruntled GHS members.

GHS, at its core, is all about the community. When we chose to revive an unusual server, it was decided that Steamrep may be necessary to maintain player safety, as unusuals draw scammers faster than anything. Since implementing it, we have had nothing but professionalism and support from the Steamrep community.

We are now proud to be using the plugin, as it provides safety for our members through a professionally driven community. Our main reason for wanting to be a Steamrep Affiliate is to get the GHS name out there as another reputable place to come and trade. Like I said, the most important part of GHS is the community. We don't only want players to come and trade, we want players to feel like they have a place to come and be among friends. Being a Steamrep affiliate will not only show that we now support Steamrep, but will offer our servers as another place to come trade safely, and hopefully allow some to find a home in the community.

    8. Please provide a link to your community's website (if applicable)
    http://www.teamghs.net/

    9. Please provide a link to your community's Sourcebans or ban/report forum.
As of now, we do not have access to an sql server so sourcebans is not an option. However, you can find our ban and report forum here:
    http://forum.teamghs.net/index.php

    10. Please provide a link to your community's stats page, hlstatsx or GameMe (if applicable).
We do not use any stat-related plugins.

    11. Please provide additional details about your community such as how it came to be, how long it has been around, the primary goals of it, what it does, etc.
GHS originated as a CSS zombie-mod server about 10 years ago, started by GGODD and is still run by the big man himself. It eventually transferred over into a tf2 focused group, but our overall premise is to remain an open group, available to any gamer. We have hosted CSS, CS GO, Killing Floor, and TF2 servers (trade, Hidden Mod, Saxton Hale, Pub, etc). The Goal of our group is simply to provide a fun community to come and play as wide a variety of games as we can provide. Of course our main focus currently is TF2 (specializing in trade servers), where we want to maintain a fun, clean environment to play and trade in.

    12. Please post your community's desired banner (if not already on SR). Banners should be 225x48.

Couldn't find an edit button, but the two dates the plugin was correctly implemented were 12/23/2012 and 3/20/2013. So depending on how long this is here, the dates may drastically change.

That would be part of the "history" I was referring to. I honestly had no idea the group was still around and I imagine the owner/founder forgot about it themselves. I'll see about disbanding it right away. That is quite embarrassing indeed.

Just for future reference, the group was built on the basis that, through an agreement between GHS and ASBO, they us a map to use and eventually decided they did not want us using it anymore. When GHS did not comply, it resulted in most of the GHS higher-ups getting an ASBO tag. GHS tried to fight steamrep under the premise that the map is technically public and owned by valve, but no progress was made, so the group was made to express what was thought to be unfair. In fact it is explicitly stated that Steamrep no longer investigates claims based on "Proprietary maps, scripts, copyright, & other server administration disputes". Since our opinions have now changed, and Steamrep is willing to work with us, the group serves no real purpose.

The group is being disbanded as I type. Even if it causes the application to be turned down, I am glad it was caught. It is obviously a bit backward to try to grow a reputation In the Steamrep and TF2, but be in a group stating that we do not support Steamrep. Thanks for the input!

Isn't it true that the admins have to pay to be admin?

Personally I can not find trust in a community where people buy their power.

They do not "buy" their power. That would imply that we would give admin to anyone willing to pay. Rather, they pay 1 key a month to support the servers and communities. These keys are used to buy MVM tickets (hundreds have been purchased, some not only through admin payments), hold giveaways (which are held as often as possible during our game events), help our members in times of need (when one of our admins scammed a player [the admin was fired and banned of course], we used the keys to pay back the player), and so on. The purpose of these keys is not to make money or give away power. We are strict when we hire, the payment is just a way to help ensure the people we hire are there for serious reasons, not to just screw around. And technically it is not even true that they are "required" to pay. I, for example, pay nothing because put in the extra effort to support GHS. Any admin can do the same. If they are admin long enough and/or prove they are serious, the payment can be removed.

However, I do agree that any community that simply sells admin, no questions asked, would be hard to trust. Thanks for the input!

I should clarify the MVM tickets are used to play with the community, they are not bought and stored.

I'd like to point out that a few months ago, GGODD2 tried absurdly hard to get users SR SCAMMER tagged for using the letters "GHS" in their names, as if he alone owned those letters. There was clearly no impersonation whatsoever, but he filed the reports, and harassed ( http://puu.sh/2orLP ) any users using the letter combination without his blessing. Why should a community that attempts to restrict the freedom of users to use the letters G, H, and S, harasses people who's display names they don't like, files frivolous Steamrep reports on those users, and then posts announcements bashing Steamrep when the report obviously failed ( http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TeamGHS#announcements/detail/1622687820291621791 , http://puu.sh/2orWt ) be allowed the privilege of becoming a Steamrep community?

I would like to note that part of your party did in fact use my tag , then purposely went into one of my servers trying to use it. He is now marked and it makes your comment invalid.

So unless you have anything that is relevant plz do not spam here. Thanks

I'm sure whatever SR staff need this probably don't need a reminder of what happened from me, and probably didn't enjoy my antics as much as I did, so I'll write none.

That said, thumbs down, I would trust these clowns with fair judgement over who and who is not a scammer about as much as I would trust someone who is not a clown to ride a unicycle. I can see it now, impersonation = having the same name. These guys literally combed my friends list to find a friend who shared the name because he was considering making a joke on my profile at the time of the event, then reconsidered and didn't, to include him in the report. That's some real solid scammer activity if I ever saw it, not doing a thing. They saw the comment I left on their (at the time, public) group profile (a comment, I might add, that made it beyond clear I was not an admin of the group, let alone the head admin) and flew in to a fit of rage, having a large number of their group leave some very nice comments on my profile, as well as ggodd420 himself report me not only to you, but to Steam support as well (a report which he assured me would go through, so I'm still waiting on that).

    In closing, please no.

To shut you down on your group bashing thing. Steam rep was well aware of this and here is the direct quote from Helen herself.

No, SteamRep is NOT okay with this. Mattie, a Senior Admin, is investigating this right now. I've sent you a friends invitation so I can personally apologize. I am so very, very sorry that this happened and I am in the process of putting in place new standards for the moderation team that will prevent this from happening again.

Once again, I am terribly sorry. I sincerely hope you accept my friends request and PLEASE do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions, concerns, reports, etc. in the future- either through Steam chat or PM on the SteamRep forums.

Thanks for the input, but this is no place to bring up and revive old arguments. You have posted your case, so let's leave it at that. No one likes an application spammed with messages all about the same thing.

For now, we have to decline this affiliate request.

We think your community has done a good bit to work against scammers, and appreciate the move you guys are making to help the community. I want to encourage you to absolutely keep up the good work and continue to help the larger community discourage scammers.

We appreciate your separation from the anti-SteamRep group when you were reminded. Yet, with that group existing for so long it makes it hard to move forward right now. :(

If you are still interested a number of months from now, I encourage you to re-apply.

Other points brought up by our staff that would make this decision easier in the future:
    • Avoid community drama -- For example, we encourage your community to commission your own maps entirely to avoid cross-community drama. SteamRep frequently gets embroiled in these kind of issues despite our desires. Actions that encourage cross-community drama really make our lives more difficult. We'd love to see more desire to respect other community requests (even if you aren't getting the same response-- be the better community).
    • Avoid including marked scammers in staff positions -- If the situation comes up again where someone is discovered to have scammed, please work through the appeals process and avoid giving positions of power to those of bad reputation. Our process isn't perfect, but working with us on those issues rather than disregarding them goes a long way to show that you discourage scamming and take it seriously.
Thanks again for your submission as we truly appreciate the interest. Keep up the good work, though, and perhaps at a later date we can work together even closer than we do now.
