So I was being stupid and sent this person $160 for International Couriers. I trusted him but he logged off and has ignored me ever since I sent him the money. Apparently, this is not the first time this person has scammed other people. It says he is a SR SCAMMER here on SteamRep and I met another guy who was also scammed of $70 who also wanted to buy International Couriers. The problem is, I can't dispute the transcation since the scammer made me send the money as a gift. He told me that sending the money as a gift would be cheaper for the both of us, which I stupidly fell for. I know I should have seen this coming, but can anyone help me get my money back? I also have the whole chat still on my computer. Can I use this somehow to prove my case? Also, how do I take a screenshot of this chat?

Here is the guy who scammed me: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561197999107780
Here is the guy who also got scammed: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198039850046/

You need to deal with this via Paypal.

Incidentally sending as "gift" even with some disclaimer such as "I won't chargeback" is a common myth, it does not afford the recipient any additional protection, since Payapal deal with virtual items very differently to physical goods, and it is very rare for a chargeback not to succeed.

It's possible to chargeback gift, you have to say that your account got hijacked and the hijacker sent the money. I got chargebacked the same way, and lost about $25, might work this time too.

hijacked PP account is going to be denied. There is no evidence on this to them (as PP keeps extensive logging on accounts).

you need to claim you did not authorize this transaction and you should win. simply state you did not authorize the transaction.
