I bought an item from a scammer unknowingly, what do I do?

Title is pretty self explanatory. He added me on Steam for my HOUWAR, he offered a Scorching Armored Authority, and I figured he really wanted my HOUWAR as it was an Uncraftable one and I've had a few nice offers. My friend urged me to take it so I did. I checked his bag and it wasn't hidden, and I didn't think to check SteamRep (a dumb mistake) as it wasn't a Paypal transaction.

He apparently scammed the previous owner, I'm still trying to figure out what happened, but after doing it he changed his name and profile to private.
He had two friends too, fishy as hell.

Yeah, apparently, he isn't marked on SteamRep, either. I talked to him and he said that that guy scammed his friend so he scammed him or something along this lines.

I tried to use broken English as I've been told it's easier to understand as it is less complicated, so I apologize if that is hard to read.

I love how he thinks scamming a scammer makes it okay.

So, how does this effect me? Am I likely to get marked as a scammer or something? Is it okay to sell the Armored Authority, as well?

If you knowingly trade with scammers, you are putting your reputation at risk. SteamRep's policy is to be understanding when an innocent trader makes a mistake or when the monetary value is relatively low. Yet, we cannot encourage scammers to profit from their theft. ​

• New traders: New traders who are unaware of SteamRep will not receive penalties to their reputations, but will receive a one-time warning.
• First offense:
  • Item/Game trades: You will receive a one-time warning for any high-value item or game trade with a SCAMMER. (This warning will be a temporary CAUTION tag that will be removed when you contact SteamRep admins.)
  • Cash trades: You will receive a CAUTION reputation tag for buying high-value items from a marked scammer. Helping scammers profit is not something we can encourage.

Scamming a scammer? I may of misread the comment, but your statement seems to imply hyro was a scammer as well. I know how Hyro got the hat, and it doesn't seem to be scamming.

He traded his Scorching Tossle to Dragn! for it.

I think he was referring to the scammer- that the scammer thought it was okay to scam another scammer.

I was, he said something like "I scammed him because he is scammer" or something, his english hurts.
