    Ive only seen this scam method twice but its when someone adds you claiming he got scammed by a guy for a dota 2 item , if you look up the item it seems an expensive item but in fact its really cheap and if you retrieve the item he will trade it for a knife.

    Yes been around for years - we call it a Glim Dropper scam
    User says that someone else has an item, asking you to trade them cause they won't deal with them directly. If you get the item they will trade you something they feel is valued more for it. Once you trade that other person (sometimes being the same user with different accounts) then they both just delete you and that is that.

    Keep in mind SR doesn't get involved with pricing/value disputes, however with this its a deceptive practice which we will tag for.
    Its important to those that do run into this save all the chat logs with both users...you report the user you were first in contact with then just reference the other users info in the same report since its all one scam attempt.
