Recently we updated the official SteamRep FAQ:

    http://forums.steamrep.com/pages/faq/

Please comment if you have suggestions or thoughts. One key change is the "No Trading with Scammers" policy which has punishments officially posted.

I think that the new FAQ is really helpful. It clearly explains the consequences of trading with scammers.

Once we have tag support for those communities, they should be added, agreed.

Indeed, its now way more easy to edit it by appropriate admins. Back when it was incorporated into the site it was pretty hard to do, for it was "semi-hardcoded" into the site, and wasn't much editable bar by Diego.

Just read the new FAQ, i find it very detailed and keeps readers well informed of what we should look out for.

The FAQ provides very crystal clear information on the organization mission statement and values.

    1. It clearly defines what a scammer is, which most people have misconceptions about.

    2. Provides links to a group of trusted steamREP admins for general help or assistance

    3. The penalties for trading/buying from scammers (to warn traders that the punishment will be serious if found breaking the rules)

I find this very important as it clearly defines and states the course of action towards scammers. However, i did not see any course of action towards people buying hijacked items. I'm not sure if there's a policy about this but maybe u can let me know :)

Nice work there Mattie, appreciate the new and improved FAQ

    Best Regards,
    Zion

Its regarded as trading with a scammer. Maybe some adjustment needs to be made for it. But Hijacks are often quite hard, for if its a known person, then people dont check as often etc. But on the onset its regarded as trading with a scammer, with same type of rules and that the account must be marked for that to start taking effect.

Thanks for the information. So lets take for example a scenario ,
    1. Account A gets hijacked
    2. The owner reports the incident, account gets marked to warn others not to deal with the hijacker.
    3. Hijacked items get passed around
Usually when a account gets hijacked ( will there anyone monitoring the big ticket items being passed around?)
    4. People usually realized that the account got hijacked (if it was reported within few hours after the incident happened)
    5. Admins of whichever trading platforms will be informed and trade will be closed immediately ? (Suggestion)
(*If reported to the relevant authorities)

This is hard to solve because valve's solution is to duplicate the item, which is a hassle and time free rectification, however this affects the economy badly and further devalue the item.

On the other hand, this leads to some people taking advantage of the system by buying hijacked items. This is because they do not think that valve will delete the hijacked item.

As this goes on, it can be very harmful to the economy.

In most cases, the hijacked items would be passed around long before the hijacked account gets tagged. So community involvement is essential to inform others about trades which are too good to be true (mainly super quicksells for big ticket items).
