Just a quick question, Ive never known what actually happens if you clicked on a link a scammer would send.
If you could tell me what happens if you click on it that would be great, so that way I wouldn't be killed by CURIOSITY.

Usually a "phish" link is benign as a link, the damage is done when you enter username/password, since the scammer now has this and access your info in the real site.

There have been cases where merely clicking on a site can take over control of a trade for example (but this was patched ages ago), and it is possible that depending on users software/settings, that remote severs can install virii or other nasty programs.

Always look carefully at the name of any links to guard against false links with similar names (SteemRep instead of SteamRep for example), and the best policy is never click any damn link that your Dear Mother didn't ask you to click :)

indeed falls in 2 categories: Phishing and attempts to hijack the browser by using vulnerabilities in older browsers/plugins, like old versions of flash, java, AIR, and whats that crap from MS called...

Solution to the first is not filling in your account details on odd sites. Solution to the second is having a secure browser, and not have installed any browser plugin that you don't absolutely need, and a addition like "NoScript" to your browser, next to a good anti-virus solution.
